The Demon – Believe in the Lie feat. Vision

Here are visuals for The Demon’s track ‘Believe In The Lie’, featuring Vision. I love the look, the style, the beat, and the way this video is put together – it might be the best-produced video to ever come out of my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The newscast vibe is really cool, with the crawl that rushes by at a speed that is too fast to read, to the behind the scenes antics of the on-air personality, to the weird cuts showing that he is also The Demon.

You can download his album for free via Bandcamp..

Russell Taraine -Why ft BKHippy

The good people at Divine Atoms put me up to this new joint Why by a cat by the name of Russell Taraine. The airy, dusty soundscape employed here brings back memories of the early nineties. Something easy on the ears and soothing too.

Hit the play button right away.

Klaus Layer – Restless Adventures (Album Review)

The politically forsaken and graffiti-tagged blocks of New York are often the prevalent images that come to mind when the harder-edged beats and rhymes of Hip-Hop hit our ears. Klaus Layer in particular has become acclaimed over recent years for drawing inspiration from, and harking back to, these gritty and tough strata of the genre’s sound. But there has always been something else going on within this. His last LP, For The People Like Us, provided perhaps the most personal look yet into his musical mind and its fascination with antique bizarreness and the surreal. The final..

Petter Jones – Heaven’s Gate ft. Trel Mack

With dudes like these ones, there is hope for hip hop just yet. Never really been tuned to the music of Petter Jones till now, but I must say that it has been a pleasure to find hidden jewels like these. I think I like the cunningness of sampling 4 bars of the late great Makavelli (2pac for the uninformed) and Biggie Smalls (Notorious BIG). That really pricks your ears to want to listen to what these men have to say. Trel Mack didn’t sleep on this either and the backing track most definitely elevates your mind to those..

Sadat X – Never Left (Album Sampler)

Except you were just born yesterday, the name Sadat X is a part of hip hop history you cannot front on. His time with the legendary super trio, Brand Nubian, is enough information right there for you to recognise the power house that is Sadat X. I don’t even need to give you a background but newbies will attest to his verse on Common’s 1999 or the more recent Face It off J Rawls compilation. Now, X is about to drop a gem on us and he gives us a teaser of what to expect from the album,..
