AF The Naysayer Feat Myka Nyne – Imagerial Denouement

N.O native AF The Naysayer really enthralled me on this piece of work, a very surreal, jazz infused abstract soundscape with funky grooves and nuances. This may fly over a few heads or more but the quality in craftsmanship is undeniable. The addition of Myka Nyne really accentuates the concept, rhyming with an off kilter flow laced with mild melodies not to mention the imagery and all. This is definitely something to nod your head to while absorbing the surreal vibes emanating from the layered production style.

Get with the program asap!

Lord Faz – LoVEE beat tape (France)

This is a beat tape I came across a while back and I wasn’t sure how to approach it. This struck me as something very different, very experimental and emotional as well. The suspect Lord Faz made this beat tape for his late significant other and while empathizing with him, I would like to also add that this is a befitting tribute. After a couple of more spins, I started to appreciate the off kilter approach taken on this project. combining live drum programming, surreal dreamy sound textures, engaging  and sometimes obscure samples resulting in a off beat, retro-futuristic set..

Cool Nutz – Young Mix-A-Lot

Cool Nutz is one of those west coast cat that has been doing his thing for a hot minute now. I remember seeing his face a lot in the source magazine which is how I got introduced to him. This track is like an ode to Sir Mix-A-Lot. Cool Nutz chronicles his journey to meeting the legend and how they vibed. Interesting I should say that a star in the making like him to be in awe or be overwhelmed by another. Still, he decides to let you in his mind to feel his butterflies.

Ace da Vinci – The LifeSaver prod. by Constrobuz

I’m not sure what to make of this video although Ace did say it is a video of him making a video project for school purposes but he could have just made a complete video that would have made for better viewing because this just appears like cuts of behind the scene footages. The song he appeared to be doing is a good song though and all I did was tune off from the images and just listened to the song itself. Constrobuz did good with the samples too I must admit. I hope he drops a mixtape..

Era Hardaway – #batch3 (beat tape)

I am in a way glad that more producers are taking time out now to throw out beat tapes. It really is a great development as it helps for people to identify their unique sounds and look forward to working with them. Era Hardaway is one of such bubbling up producers who understand the essence of beat tapes and is not scared to earn his stripes by throwing stuff out there for you all to feel and identify as well. 14 beats in total from this Batch3 collection and you definitely need to plug in your earphones for..
