When it comes to creating music, Teckzilla is no small fry and the Producer-cum-DJ is back at it again with a new material. This time, Teckzilla takes us to the city that never sleeps in the ever bustling and sometimes chaotic scenery of Lagos. With the booming yet cinematic sound that sets the stage for action packed lyrics, Teckzilla enlists five Nigerian women to share their experiences as a woman of Nigerian origin on this song titled Naija Women. According to Teck, “this track is a one-off women’s anthem” but I cannot help but wonder if there is more in the stash for more posse cuts as the ladies sound well together. The rappers include US-based JXXIII and Quinja; Jos, Nigerian-based Sentence and Lagos, Nigeria-based Yada and Reespect in that order.

The quintet share their experiences as women making headway in a male-dominated space. The lyrics focus on their trials, tribulations, strengths and passions as women carving a niche in the game. Subject matter aside, it is a breath of fresh air to hear women who can actually rap and not just stringing words together for attention. All you have to do is press play and enjoy some hip hop from the Lagos shores of Nigeria brought to you by Naija Women. You can read the lyrics on Genius to get the full scope of their mindstate. Also, you can listen to the song on Bandcamp, Spotify and Audiomack.

You can connect with the ladies and teck on social media too.
