Natalie Slade – “As The Stars”
Australian Soul/R&B singer/songwriter Natalie Slade caught our attention with “As The Stars,” a heartfelt and uplifting tune that soothes the soul. The visuals were shot in Japan and we get to see the rapper soaking up the sights and sounds of the city he is in.
Haviah Mighty – “OK!”
Brampton, Ontario-based rapper/songwriter Haviah Mighty helps close this week’s video playlist with “OK!” The anthemic track is a declaation of sorts as she steps to the forefront with unapologetic lyrics bolstered by an unconventional flow. Her approach is off-kilter and the message is clear as day as she raps “She got a body of a Goddess, everytime I touch her it’s electric/I go miles for it, put the kilos ’cause I don’t care about the metrics/I’m an heavyweight.” The visual adds texture to the song with various performance shots, unorthodox motifs and set pieces that is anchored on self assurance and raw bold spirit.
For those that don’t know, she was a member of The Sorority — a hip-hop group born during an all-female cypher on International Women’s Day in 2016.
