Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we look at some exceptional visuals from various acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

ZG – “Long Live Butt”

Rapper ZG pay homage to his younger brother in the aptly titled song “Long Live Butt.” The solemn tune comprises a sad piano riff and solid drum grooves underpinned by an emotional tale of loss. ZG takes us down memory lane and details the aftermath of Butt’s death and how it affected his entire family. The visuals uses photos and retro clips of the late Butt to bring the message home.

 

Wavy Kamp Fee – “Holy Fee” (feat. TWO14)

Wavy Kamp Fee teamed up with TWO14 for  “Holy Fee,” a reflective track that explores the ups and downs of life. The production has a soulful and solemn vibe and the melodic flows and insightful lyrics are engaging from start to finish. The visual has a scenic and throwback feel that captures the artists in their element.

 

Quinten Jesse – “Love don’t come free”

UK singer/songwriter Quinten Jesse unveils the visuals for his new single “Love don’t Come Free.” The heartfelt single is a reflective look into heartbreak and the feeling of sadness that comes with yearning for something that comes with conditions. Over the soft and solemn piano riff and mellow grooves, Quinten Jesse delivers a commanding performance ripe with rich melodic runs and relatable lyrics.

 

Mikey Sol x Your Cousin Avi – “Noodle Kugel”.

Mikey Sol and Your Cousin Avi team up for the “Noodle Kugel” as they tap into the essence of hip-hop blending rapping and street dancing. The track is anchored on a bass-heavy and punchy drum groove with futuristic synths and underpinned by fiery raps that capture energetic and feel-good vibes. The visuals are also engaging and bring together performance shots with engaging dance moves.

 

 

Akete – “Phantasmagorical” (prod. by ILL KALIL)

 

Experimenatl rapper/.songwriter Akete shares visuals for his song “Phantasmagorical.” The reflective tune produced by  ILL KALIL has a solemn feel and is underpinned by Akete’s storytelling that dives into his childhood and his growth from a kid to a young man who is on his purpose. The video has a retro early 2000s feel and uses performance shots of Akete doing what he loves. The leaf village head band is a nice touch also.

 

 

GameChangers – “Juggernaut June” (feat. Juggernaut June)

 

GameChangers deliver hard-hitting bars on the anthemic tune “Juggernaut June.” Bolstered by the punchy soundscape provided by Donatz, and lyrical display by Juggernaut June, new audiences get a glimpse of what the GameChangers have been up to since the release of their album Summer In The City. The visual directed by Big Mos (ReeL Dope Cinematic) uses subtle visual effects that ramp up the urgency and energetic raps.

Barbaydose – “I See Lightning”.

Bay Area, El Cerrito, CA-based hip-hop group Barbaydose shares their new single “I See Lightning” off their forthcoming album. The track comprises sullen vocal samples, rich piano riffs and punchy drums underpinned by bravado-driven raps that bring audiences closer to the action. The visuals blend cinematic elements with motifs that tap into the culture of music and their city.

 

 

 

Sedric Perry x K.ZIA – “Higher”.

 

Sedric Perry and K.ZIA team up for a genre-bending project, Twin Flame. In the meantime, they share the visuals for the single “Higher,” a eye-popping video that uses engaging motifs, cinematic set pieces and expressive dance moves. The track blends R&B and amapiano seamlessly and is anchored on soul-stirring melodic runs by K.ZIA.

 

 

 

 

Zims – “Street Styles | Hardest Bars”.

 

Zims connects with the audience on his new release “Street Styles | Hardest Bars.” Over a dark and cinematic soundscape, Zims steps to the stage with his dynamic and expressive flow and vivid lyricism that gives audiences a glimpse into his city.

 

 

 

 

 

Yoko Gold – “Limbo”

Rising singer/songwriter Yoko Gold (real name Moses Peterson) helped close this week’s video list with his new single “Limbo.”  The track is a reflective tune that explores the ups and downs of life and acknowledging one’s mistakes and learning to grow with it. The visual is cinematic and uses motifs that tap into the singer’s life and emotions. The track is taken from his 9 track EP Escape From Limbo.
