UK neo soul singer/songwriter Tia Gordon returns with a brand-new single/video, “friends” and has officially unveiled her 6-track EP i asked the stars for this. X. The  Earl Hondo-produced track is a laidback reflective piece that talks about the uplifting effects of having great friends around you. The warm textures and downtempo grooves all lend strength to Gordon’s laidback, sultry vocal runs. She sounds comfortable and at peace on this track, and that is noticeable, captured in the accompanying visual, where we find Tia Gordon soaking in the friendly atmosphere in her local park. From being comfortable in her skin to interacting with friendly faces, the visual highlights what true inner peace feels like. The video was shot in London by Anna Paterson, who uses performance shots with home-video styled set pieces to underscore the sense of nostalgia and familiarity.

i asked the stars for this, also boasts tracks like the previously released “should i give it up,” and “love,” which respectively explore imposter syndrome, self-doubt with raw vulnerability. Followed by ‘till we’re 85,’ ‘fever dream,’ and ‘landslide, tracks that explore a wide range of topics underpinned by funk, retro-soul and modern contemporary-pop soundscapes. Production duties include Grammy Award–winner Brasstracks, Earl Hondo, TAVE, Cox, V-Ron, and long-time collaborators Pip Millet and Darryl Dodoo.
