Nec Nymbl x Sankofa – “Appetizer Afterthoughts” (feat. Nec Nymbl)

Nec Nymbl and Sankofa pepper our ears with “Appetizer Afterthoughts,” a hard-hitting track comprising menacing string samples, crunchy drums and a touch of urgency. As expected, Sankofa delivers a  solid verse filled thought-provoking social commentary that he is known for.

 

 

Willis – “Professional Speech Moderator”

Willis pours his all on wax in his new release “Professional Speech Moderator.” The track was birthed after an argument and he figured out a way to tell someone to shut up in a creative way. That alone gets a nod from us.

 

Dan-e-o – “Turn It Around” (feat. Xentury)

Dan-e-o teams up with Xentury for this scathing politically charged track  “Turn It Around,” which looks at systemic racism, the violent past of the white oppressors and the current social-political landscape. All in all, it seems nothing as really changed as black folks are still reeling from 400 years of the same cycle of pain. The track is produced by Big Sproxx.

 

 

Henry Canyons x Fresh Kils – “Show & Tell”.

Brooklyn-based rapper Henry Canyons and veteran Toronto-based producer Fresh Kils connect for “Show & Tell.” The track has a solemn and comforting aesthetic that blends perfectly with Henry Canyons’ laidback flow but its his incisive lyricism that draws our attention the most. He barely misses or minces his words as he explores the concept of growth, change and purpose.

 

 

 

Tsira x BrighterDaze x JuDii – “Bud” (feat. BrighterDaze & JuDii)

Producer/songwriter Tsira (Najee Ahmad) teams up with BrighterDaze and JuDii for “Bud,” a  plucky and upbeat track that showcase raw, unfiltered lyricism from all parties.

 

Will Sass – “Deep Theory (feat. Catching Cairo)”.

Rising NYC producer Will Sass and UK singer/songwriter Catching Cairo unveil their new collaboration “Deep Theory.”  The upbeat 2-step/dance-infused track echoes the golden era of UK music with a new-age contemporary touch. Catching Cairo is in her element here as she delivers a gripping and soul-stirring performance ripe with heartfelt, emotionally charged lyrics that explore the ups and downs of true love.

 

 

BTHEWISER – “The Alchemist”

Emerging rapper BTHEWISER steps into the role of “The Alchemist” in his new release. The track is a showcase of lyricism as we get to experience his expressive flow and reference-filled lyrics with a touch of insightful themes.

London-based rapper Anwar Noire gets personal and intentional in his new single “Weight On My Shoulders.” Over a moody and solemn backdrop comprising atmospheric pads, snapping trap drums and plucky percussions, Anwar Noire talks about his dreams and the never-ending trials and tribulations he has to face. This track is also the 2nd single from his debut EP.

Kibby – “TRUST NOBODY”.

Emerging rapper Kibby shares this reflective track “TRUST NOBODY” to our playlist. Over a solemn and warm soundscape, Kibby reflects on friendship, loss and self purpose from a refreshing nd thought-provoking lens.

The beat produced by Korral Klein is choppy and cinematic as well as it fits d$hip’s insightful bars about self-doubt, the underhanded corruption within the ranks of the government and temptation of the spirit.

James Gardin – “All Eyes On Me”

 

James Gardin continues to push his musical envelope with his genre-bending releases and the latest is “All Eyes On Me,” a bouncy dance-funk-infused jam that evokes positivity and self-affirmation. The track is the title track from James Gardin and French producer Terem‘s forthcoming EP.

 

 

 

the intern x Otis Mensah – “before the noise my cousin”

 

the intern and Otis Mensah are working on a collaborative project but in the interim, they share the single “before the noise my cousin.” The mellow jazz-soul-infused track comprises warm textures, smooth horns and soulful strings underpinned by Otis Mensah’s abstract and off-kilter lyricism. The track is the lead single from the duo’s forthcoming LP, which will be available in March 2025 on all streaming platforms and a limited vinyl edition of 100. Kaboom Atomic and producer The Dirty Sample team up for “Are You High?,” a bouncy and playful track that showcases off-kilter lyricism and expressive flows that lovers of real hip-hop would like.

 

Bungalow Collect – “Ainno Rush”

 

BK-based collective Bungalow Collect is a duo comprising Marcus Isiah and Zay Suav and they are working on their new EP with Chicago-based producer Wrldfamous KD.  The new “Ainno Rush” sets the pace with its smooth texture, punchy drums and catchy chorus. The track blends bravado and aspirational themes that anchor the duo’s refreshing energy.
