The music video format has been around for decades, from the 90s and 2000s, and has shifted from multi-million-dollar-budget music videos to mid- to low-budget videos with exceptional production values. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

M Huncho – “WE UP”
UK trapwave progenitor M Huncho returns with his new single. video “WE UP” while announcing his forthcoming album, The Wizard. The single is a celebratory tune that finds M Huncho in his element over a bouncy, atmospheric beat featuring subtle vocal chops and ethereal pads. Here, he reminds audiences of his resilience as he pushes through the white noise while creating the foundation for others to follow. The accompanying visualizer uses extensive visual effects that usher viewers into M Huncho’s world.
Rufarakhon10x – “Monsta”
Rufarakhon10x‘s “Monsta” is a no-holds-barred horrorcore/gangsta track that blends graphic imagery with expressive rapping over a cinematic backdrop. The emcee is equipped with a gruff vocal tone and energetic demeanour, alongside a knack for telling spine-chilling stories of hood activities. The visual style is performance-based and highlights Rufarakhon10x’s presence as a force to be reckoned with.
Dax – “Caught You in the Bed”
Dax shares his thoughts on infidelity in the aptly titled record “Caught You in the Bed.” The track continues Dax’s foray into contemporary pop/hiphop infused music and finds him pouring his heart out on a cheating lover. Dax’s performance is serviceable and gets the job done as expected, but it’s not exactly groundbreaking. It sure adds to his long line of concept-driven, socially conscious releases. The visual is cinematic and is story-driven to fit the lyrics.
GAWDS – “No Condolences”
Baltimore quartet GAWDS offer “No Condolences” in their latest single/video. The R&B-Infused rap track explores the emotional pain of leaving a loved one. Over a solemn, remorseful backdrop, the emcees Regulus and Pinpoint share their experiences in vivid detail, while L3 ties it all together with a soul-stirring melody. The visual has a nostalgic, bittersweet feeling that highlights memories and the past. “No Condolences” appears on the group’s recent album The Care Package.
Fire In The Booth – Fire In The Booth – “Bugzy Malone Pt. 4”
In the latest Fire In The Booth, Charlie Sloth brings in the legendary Bugzy Malone to ignite the environment. As expected, Malone doesn’t hold back, delivering a brilliant performance that highlights different sides of his persona and artistry. From heartfelt lyrics to no-holds-barred verbal darts, Bugzy Malone reminds us that he is the man. As the first inductee, Bugzy Malone will receive the first edition FITB Hall of Flames trophy, a symbol created to celebrate heavyweight contributions to the culture.
Brooklyn Funk Essentials – “Never Give Up”
Brooklyn Funk Essentials recently put out their eighth studio album Black Butterfly, and now they return with the visuals for “Never Give Up.” The upbeat funk/soul track is a retro-tinged piece that highlights the band’s core funk-soul essence and is punctuated by hypnotic grooves, lush textures, and sublime vocal performances.
The album was produced and co-written by bassist Lati Kronlund and features Alison Limerick, Ebba Åsman and Desmond Foster on vocals.
