Eight months later after dropping Prisoner Of Conscious, Talib Kweli is ready to drop another album scheduled for a December 15th release called Gravitas. This time around, he’s taking a different approach with how he’s going to connect with his fans.

According to him, when you pre-order his album, you will be buying it directly from him. This is definitely a test for Talib Kweli as he has always been the type to want to directly connect with the people. “Who needs this industry when we have each other. The technology exists for me to have this relationship with the fans, and vice versa,” Kweli adds.

“Imagine me being able to look up every member of my fanbase on my iPhone and actually know who they are on a personal level,” he typed. “This is the dream I’ve always had. To be able to actually recognize you at the meet & greet. To be able to actually know how you were feeling yesterday because I’m following you on Instagram and Twitter. That’s why I’ve started this club.

This is definitely an approach that most industry heads won’t take, because most artists are worried about numbers (thanks Soundscan). Talib Kweli has always been vocal on that aspect and decided to cut out ‘the middleman’. The idea that now fans can actually meet and greet Kweli and take photos with him is quite a dream come true, versus seeing him at a show with a stage — expanding the personal space between the artist & show attendee. He wants to meet YOU — the fan, live and direct. “I want to be able to say thank you, not just to a huge group of anonymous fans, but to specific ones that actually care about my career and the art that I’m sharing with the world.”
