Our good Russian brother Scut36 (one of the best Hip Hop photographers from across the globe) joined forces with German graphic illustrator Cike1 to create FOTOGRAFIKA, a series of photos originally taken by Scut36 and then characterized and illustrated by Cike. The result is INSANELY dope.

Be on the lookout for more Scut36 and Cike1 on WIB very soon; we will for sure be partnering with both these brothers for some more goodness.

Scut36:

Hi. My name is Scut36. I am the leading Moscow based hip-hop photographer. I’ve worked with Talib Kweli, Cunninlynguists, Gangrene, Evidence, Naughty By Nature, Dope D.O.D., Guilty Simpson, Sage Francis and many others (You can check my portfolio here –http://scut36.com/gallery/foreign-hip-hop). For the last years I’ve been catching touring rappers before/after their shows in Russia – that’s how most of the photographs were made. I’d like to present you my project called “Fotografika” with Germany based belarusian artist Cike1. Cike1 made a ‘rethink’ of the photographs I made using his dope drawing/illustrating skills. This idea appeared right after the release of first part of “Fotografika” which contained only russian MCs and was made only in one technique (http://scut36.com/gallery/fotografika). – Scut36

“I decided to use different techniques and materials: watercolors, acryl, gouache, India ink, ink pen, spray, pencil and computer graphics. Part of works is made using watercolors referring to my project called “Daily Sketches” (http://cike1.com). I update this project with a new sketch of a character every day since 2011. You can find plenty of illustrations of other rappers there” – Cike1
