Pablo 978 crosses the Ts and dots the I’s with the insightful single “It’s True.” against a laidback guitar-driven backdrop, the emcee share shis thoughts on growth, self-discipline and discovery in an unforgiving world where nothing is promised. Deozi enters this week’s playlist with “Number 12,” a socially conscious track about unnatural beauty standards reinforced by modern society. Here, he takes listeners into the world of BBLs, wigs, breast implants and manufactured beauty ideas that have turned people into walking Barbie clones. Florida emcee Curtis Smoove delivers the new hustle anthem in the form of the new single “Dope Boy World.” The bouncy track has a thick bass line and ethereal synths underpinned by vivid lyricism and storytelling that details his life as a dope boy.

Harry Gray/MK Zulu returns with “Passport Baby,” an uplifting piece that pays homage to that special one who deserves the world. Over a smooth R&B soul backdrop filled with a prominent bassline and warm keys, the emcee pours adoration on the passport babies across the globe who slay effortlessly. UK artist Tyrage wades through the “Flames” on his new single. Against a hard-hitting, energetic backdorp, the rapper highlights his journey through self-doubt, loss, and true purpose. “Way Back” by Terry Borderline is a heartfelt Gospel-tinged record that explores growth and healing. backed by solemn chords, rousing drum fills and commanding vocal runs, Terry talks about past traumas and the arduous healing journey while basking in the good memories that made things easier. German rapper Tamujin enters our playlist with “Tyrant,” a hard-hitting track that is punctuated by insightful and reflective lyrics and a mantra-like chorus. St. Louis artist and producer Jordan Baumstark steps into the fray with his new single “Yes.” The track has a smooth boombap groove with jazzy elements and a classic vocal sample and horn-driven hook, which complements the rapper’s expressive flow and vivid storytelling. Emerging emcee Chech introduces us to the world once more with “Who Am I?” The self-appraisal track finds the emcee retelling his story while reminding us of the work he has put in. The production has a rich guitar backline and sublime vocal sample with punchy drums, which evokes urgency. Melbourne, Australia-based rapper Sri V delivers what might be the first rap cricket anthem. Titled “We All Love Cricket,” the track highlights the essence of the sport, the summer-tinged memories it brings and how it brings together the community.

 

Veteran German producer Superior and rapper Let The Dirt Say Amen deliver the first single, “Hopeful Studies,” from their forthcoming collaborative project. The track pays homage to the late Brooklyn rapper Ka with its overarching style. The production blends Gospel vocals, soft, dark piano chords, with sparse percussion and short vocal samples of Ka himself. Here, Let The Dirt Say Amen takes listeners on a lyrical journey filled with vivid tales of life. Emerging rap artist RoyalVato pours out his frustrations on wax in his new single “Most Wanted.” Over a sombre piano loop, the rapper vents his anger with much gusto as he breaks down the current state of the social and political atmosphere. Singer/songwriter YTK caught our ears with “D’lulu,” a plucky R&B/soul track with offbeat funky aesthetics and a sublime vocal performance that echoes D’Angelo with a touch of Prince. The track talks about delusion in love and rousing emotions that can be distracting.

 

Rising  Swiss/Surinamese singer/songwriter Shedea Dona enters our playlist with a blend of future R&B and Afrobeats on her new single “Taste”.  Armed with a sultry and honeyed vocal texture, the singer explores seduction and desire from a woman’s perspective. German rapper Tamujin pays homage to Red Dead Redemption 2  in his single “Bandenkrise.” Bolstered by a scenic guitar lick and moody backdrop, the emcee takes us on a ride as a bandit who roams the wild west. Rising Danish artist Ju Kaia flexes her lyrical muscles and vocal dexterity in this insightful single, “Committed No Crime.”  Over a modern funk/r&B infused backdrop laced with throbbing basslines, guitar licks and a smooth drum groove, Ju Kaia waxes lyrical about following life to the beat of her own drum and not letting others dictate how she moves. “Hymn of Misdirection” from Delva is a heartfelt track that focuses on self-assessment and the power of discovery. Backed by solemn chord arrangements and soft drums, the emcee embarks on a self-redemptive journey. S. Polk‘s new release “Wheels” is a celebratory tune that highlights the rapper’s growth and daily activities as a young man in an unforgiving world. Against a modern west coast bounce, the rapper takes the wheel of this aural-driven and shows us how he gets down. Pavy goes back in time in this heartfelt and reflective tune, “Forgot How I Feel”. The rapper runs through various events that reshaped him and the lost memories that surface as he turns the pages of time. He revisits his youth, the family members who influenced him and the life lessons that reshaped his outlook. We head to Canada with the help of the Backburner crew who “Run Wild” in the lyrical streets. The track is a close four-minute lyrical onslaught from emcees Chokeules, Jesse Dangerously, More Or Les, Timbuktu, Ghettosocks, Savilion, Wordburglar and Thesis Sahib against a dark, menacing backdrop crafted by Peter Project while Uncle Fester provides excellent vocal scratches to thread the verses together.
