23-year-old British-Filipino singer, songwriter and producer Troy Javelona first popped up on our radar earlier this year when he released the visuals for his single “DARLING.” The singer is now back with new visuals for the ficus track “SALTWATER” alongside his 7-track EP, NO HEALING WITHOUT HEARTBREAK. “SALTWATER” is a solemn and heartfelt piece that dives into the process of emotional healing and the pain that comes from moving on. Against a warm summer-tinged texture comprising rich guitar licks, warm pads and sturdy off-beat drum grooves, Javelona takes listeners through a rollercoaster of emotions that is filled with the good and bad. The overarching message is not for erasure but rather acceptance of what has happened. The song comes with a visual that captures the singer in his element as he basks in the summer sun with his friends, as he deals with his internal pain, the only way he knows how to.

The EP is split into two halves, including an interlude, and traces the journey from the raw aftermath of heartbreak into brighter, more hopeful territory, revealing Troy at his most vulnerable yet.
