We head to the Barrow-In-Furness in the North West of England with the aid of rising singer/songwriter Wallis who started singing at a young age. The mid-tempo modern contemporary R&B offering showcases her rich Soprano melodic runs and distinct vocal texture over a punchy and layered instrumentation. Here, she reflects on the ups and downs of balancing love and her love for music resulting in conflict that is somehow hard to resolve. Lines like “I ain’t cold, won’t do what I’m told
/Men ain’t everything, puppet on a string/Tie you up, never gonna stop” explore her dilemma and she is also joined by Miami-based rapper Sam Vaughan who adds a male perspective to the topic. It is an interesting balance of emotional anchors and also shows the process of self-discovery with a focus on self-love.
