Brooklyn based singer/songwriter Alex Mali drops the visuals for her single “Problem.” The record thrives in the mid-tempo range and sees the emerging act deliver a blend of styles fusing R&B and hip-hop in a seamless fashion. Over the bouncy trap-infused backdrop, she delivers a fiery performance that is reminiscent of a young Kelis with a SZA -Esque swagger. Young and confident, Mali knows what she wants and is not ready to play games with someone who is obviously doing the opposite.
The visual, directed by OMNI and Mali herself is very expressive and edgy as it fully embodies what Mali stands for. She is comfortable in her skin and doesn’t pander to the public. From the cinematic performance focus shots to the lips-only cutaway scenes, we get a glimpse into Mali as a creative who is pushing the boundaries of her art at every chance she gets. Alex Mali’s second EP Phenom is due out late Spring 2020.
