Brooklyn born singer-songwriter, Alex Mali has just dropped her sophomore EP Phenom and also shares with us two focus tracks that showcase her diverse musical style.

The first track on deck is called “Fighting Words” and it sees Mali in fierce mode over a bouncy lush backdrop courtesy of The Breed. Mali goes forth to question the motives of people who don’t want to see her prosper in her endeavors. She doesn’t let up on this one and shows how confident she is with a commanding performance that blends RnB/soul with pop elements.

The second track we have is called “Shook” and serves as the opening track from the EP and is produced by Julian Nixon and Sean Cook. The booming backdrop sure showcases Mali’s versatility as she fuses fierce hip-hop vibes with deep soulful vibes peppered by her undeniable swagger. Mali once again takes ownership of her being and reminds us of the time her detractors tried to veer her off her goals with lines like  “…all the haters couldn’t take it/ told me I would never make it…” but she is far from being broken.
