I first came across Zambian emcee Marvel via a mutual associate and from the first listen the homie blew my mind away.  After peeping his previous works, all I have to say is he’s got bars for days, with a chilled, smooth flow and a baby face betraying his viciousness on the mic. His latest entry is The Basement Mixtape, a collaboration with DJ Roc (who’s also responsible for a large amount of the production). As a mixtape Marvel delivers the goods, and while the subject matter might be a bit one sided (compared to his older works) he shows a knack for witty one liners, punchlines and weird pop references. Forget the fact that the kid is in Zambia, the kid got bars – that’s it, that’s all, solo, single, no more, no less.

Peep game!

DJ Roc & Marvel come together for the first time to deliver a Hip Hop offering. The Mixtape is a showcase of the talented upcoming producer DJ Roc & Renowned Lusaka based emcee Marvel trading skills the best way they know how. All songs were
produced by DJ Roc and he is stating his claim at a table of the countries best Hip Hop Producers. Marvel showcases his lyrical prowess on an array of different beats and also features young upcoming singer(Musonda), Male Singers( Negus and Eddie), Rapper(The Jedi) and Producer/Rapper(Profyle). The tape is headlined by aggression from everyone involved and is directed at all who stand strong for the Hip Hop Culture.
