Germany-based producer LarzVegaz takes us “Behind the shadow” in their newest release. The track has a dark and brooding feel, and it’s scenic from start to finish. Spanish Multi-instrumentalist Dani Catala enters this week’s playlist with “Light Forest,” a laidback lofi piece that is made up of soft tones, sublime chords and subtle percussion. SaneBeatz is preparing to drop his new album, New Era, but in the meantime, he thrills us with the single “The Summoner.” The track is a cinematic piece comprising prominent guitar licks, ominous pads punctuated by mellow boombap drums, all combining to create an intriguing ambiance. kBeatsJalaapeno and Portuguese guitarist Jonny Abbey teamed up for “Anguish.” The result is a reflective lofi piece that is built on sparse drum grooves, moody textures and ethereal pads. “Danube Sky” is a collaborative track by Japanese musicians konb and Naomi Eno, who blend modern lofi/jazz with contemporary sounds. Here, they use prominent horn arrangements with lush chords underpinned by soft drums and guitar licks.

South Korean music producer Lofi Seoul takes us into a dreamy realm with “Sunroof Season,” a groovy lofi/funk jam with City pop aesthetics. Zen Gemini taps into the emotive punch of the summer breeze in  “softly, we drift.” The track is laidback and thrives on its solemn, moody chords that evoke lovelorn desires and overwhelming calmness. Ferocious Folk takes us deep into the “Fullcourt” in their newest tune. The laidback cut has a solid drum groove layered with ethereal textures, soft melodic tones and pads that evoke memories. Danish music producer IAMNORA gives us a breather with her new release “running low.” A laidback lofi cut punctuated with solemn piano chords and a throbbing bassline groove, and warm lofi textures. “Floating On Church Lane” is a soulful and uplifting track from Wishlade. The icing here is the subtle guitar-laden instrumentation that carries emotional weight and evokes nostalgia and good memories. Lullabies‘s “All May Come” is a hard-hitting track with an extensive guitar backline and moody pads underpinned by a punchy drum groove. The fun continues as the producers layer it with vocals from his Great-Grandfather’s sermons, which adds that personal touch to it.

Soulseize steps in to create a much-needed “Bridge” on his new single. The track has a retro jazz vibe with modern boombap aesthetics. The subtle horn stabs, guitar licks and mellow basslines and chords all come together like peas in a pod. Production duo Confidence and J Ferra return with “Funky Duo,” an aptly titled track that captures their musical chemistry. Blending smooth boombap drums with modern lofi/soul elements, the duo creates a sublime, blissful ambiance that is funky and alluring all at once. Wulf Morpheus drops “Saved Tomorrow,” and it’s a natural bop if we do say so ourselves. The lofi-jazz element shines through with clarity as the producer layers warm chords with subtle basslines and a headnodding drum groove to complete the job. “Running Out” is a reflective track from production duo Funky Notes and Ben Jammin’ Beats. The two have teamed up to craft a dreamy lofi/soul ambiance with experimental aesthetics. The layered chords, moody strings, punchy bass-driven drums and obscure vocal sample remind us that time is running out, which is the exact push we need in these wild times. We close this week’s playlist with Bodo Bifroest‘s “Half Speed Sun,” a summer-tinged piece that has bright textures, warm chords and plucky licks that evoke nostalgia and good memories from start to finish.
