One Dae is seriously on a roll here: about a week ago he dropped the hard hitting ‘Bang This‘ and the follow up single ‘Daes & Times‘ doesn’t disappoint. He connects with producer Ayatollah, who laces a mid-tempo, enthralling vintage soundscape for One Dae and his partner in rhyme C-Rayz Walz. This joint takes me back to the Rawkus Records days for some strange reason, no flashy or gimmicky stunts here, just pure lyricism displayed over a commanding backdrop.
Need I say more? Go support the dopeness. After diving head first into New York’s battle scene of the late ‘90s, One Dae made an instant splash after squaring off with Mos Def, landing him a write-up in The Source Magazine, titled “The Death of Battle Rap.” Since then, the fiery emcee has made Brooklyn his home and has toured the world over, making music under his terms, without compromise. Dae now gets set to for the November 26th release of his debut LP Daes & Times, via Daelight/Coalmine Records. The album enlists an impressive roster of guest features that include Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), Sean Price, C-Rayz Walz and Statik Selektah, and boasts production from boom-bap specialist Marco Polo, Australia’s M-Phazes, and the legendary Domingo (KRS-One, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Kool G Rap), among others
