cola valley treats us to a double feature this week in the form of his new releases. Two solid instrumentals from his stash titled “balance + balenciaga” and “citylife.”

“balance + balenciaga” has a moody and solemn vibe bolstered by smooth progressive key arrangement and warm textures. Soft drums are an important factor as it helps drive the energy and keep the chords tight from start to finish.

The next track “citylife,” sounds like an 80s pop ballad with a contemporary jazz feel. The horn solo is scenic and beautifully arranged and the soft pads and keys all come together like peas in a pod.
