Brooklyn native Talib Kweli embarked on his summer tour Thursday In Providence, Rhode Island.
Named the “Prisoners of Consciousness” tour after the upcoming album, Kweli announced the journey will start May 18th in Providence, Rhode Island and wrap up on June 3rd in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also announced that Mos Def will be joining him at Bonnaroo on June 8th.

His new solo album “Prisoners of Consciousness” set to drop sometime in 2012, features an impressive cast of guest contributions such as RZA, Kendrick Lamar, Melanie Fiona, Busta Rhymes and Curren$y.

”There are prisoners of consciousness all over the world. And the idea of me being an artist who’s considered a conscious artist. Sometimes people put me in a metaphorical or symbolic box to whereas my music is not placed on the same pedestal as some of the more mainstream acts. And it feels like sometimes.
