“No Caliphates” is the newest song from Sons of Yusuf to get a visual treatment and it features veteran emcee Talib Kweli who comes through with a solid verse. The Mike Chav produced track has an upbeat sparse-beat laced with an Arabic vocal sample which serves as the backdrop for some jewels on racial discrimination, history, and much more. The blood brothers rap about the troubles they faced as Muslim kids growing up in Los Angeles: “We got Wiz Khalifa, Mia Khalifa, but no caliphates / They only want to check my bag, Muslim on the plane / Even when I’m grocery shopping I’m still a target man / They label me a boogeyman, then they make a Muslim ban.”

While Talib Kweli adds his own 2 cents to the issue at hand with lines like “Respectability don’t stop a cop from wanting to shoot / they killed Martin Luther in a civil rights suit / The Eagle has an appetite for its own version of the truth / your absence of evidence not proof.”

The video was shot in Dubai and Kuwait and features the duo playing basketball in an oilfield and rapping in front of the Dubai skyline.
