As Hip Hop fans, and even more so for the graffiti writers among us, I’m sure we can all appreciate the impact of Montana colors on the graffiti scene as a whole. Just one flick through “Subway Art”, or books or similar importance, display the widespread use of Montana cans.

The murals that cover the Montana factory, located just outside of Barcelona, echo this creative spirit. Something of a history painting, Brazilian artists Os Gemeos and Nina’s enormous character-based work alludes to milestone events for the company—such as its fight against plagiarizing competitors and the fire that destroyed its old factory in 2002. French artists Dran, Bom.K and Sowat’s collaborative work on an adjacent building combines abstraction and a playful, childlike aesthetic to pay homage to graffiti culture. Nastia Voynovskaya of Hi-Fructose surveys the Montana murals below.
