Brooklyn, NY-based rapper Toshkin takes the mantle of the “BOSS” on his latest release. Armed with a commanding flow and no-holds-barred lyricism, he details his mission statement as the man in charge. Indie rapper DMH steps into the forefront with “WORLD IN MY HANDS (BONUS),” a track that features a mellow and scenic soundscape with engaging storytelling. DMH shares some insight into his journey in this game. Remydmc enters this week’s playlist on a grand note with “Biggest.” The track features a bass-heavy drum groove, an ominous operatic vocal sample, and finds the rapper in his element as he delivers a fiery performance underpinned by bravado bars.  MrZnote returns to our site with “Where the Dog Is?,” featuring morse code. The upbeat cut produced by SYKO is punctuated by a catchy hook and finds both emcees embodying the spirit of the big dog who does whatever he wants.  Brittany Campbell is a Los Angeles singer/songwriter, animator, actress, and activist. Her new single  “Grudges” is an interetsing take on the topic and explores how time changes feelings towards one who was a former lover. Grizzy Hendrix‘s “Kim Kardashian” is a detailed retelling of the rise of the famous Kardashian sister, whose unconventional antics led her to fame, amongst other things. The production is moody and dark, and Grizzy Hendrix’s vivid storytelling is engaging and insightful. Shai Sevin‘s self-produced “NDD” is a hard-hitting, socially conscious drill track that explores integrity and living up to one’s principles in a time when clout-chasing is commonplace. The production is punchy and cinematic, and Sevin’s commanding flow and reflective lyrics are inspiring and well-crafted.

 

Rising singer/songwriter Gia delivers a cover of Corrine Bailey Rae‘s “Put Your Records On.”   The soul/pop-infused summer jam highlights the singer’s dynamic range and unique vocal runs. Gia’s take is superbly executed and lives up to expectations as she uses her distinctive style to create something different and exciting. Bristol-based rapper/songwriter Badliana returns to the forefront with “Bright Lights.” A reflective piece about finding one’s peace as they struggle with a toxic situation. Backed by a dark and ominous backdrop, Badliana takes audiences deep into her psyche with vivid storytelling and a commanding flow. IANxSOLO steps into our playlist with their new single “Fast Forward,” a heartfelt look at the power of resilience and fortitude in a world where less-than-stellar appearance gets more praise. Fletchy and Quimico Ultra Mega turn up the “ENERGY” with this brand new, high-octane track. Fusing heavy drums with electrifying guitars and dark pads, the duo deliver a resounding and boisterous piece that is perfect for your training regimen. Fletchy leads the charge with an aspirational verse followed by Quimico Ultra Mega’s expressive Spanish verse, and together they craft a solid collaboration that will ignite the audience. The Velvet Soul Experience is the musical identity of a London-based singer-songwriter whose influences range from soul, R&B, and Hindi music to modern neo soul. Their latest release, “Let me in,” is a laid-back, reflective track that explores emotional turbulence, resilience, and the power of self-belief. The production is slick and infuses elements of future R&B with dark soulful elements, while the vocal performance is dynamic, blending melodic aspects of R&B/soul and the poetic fluidity of rap. Emerging rapper Jack Cahill‘s “Calloused Hands” explores the journey of a young man as he navigates life and comes to understand what it means to become a man. Over a smooth guitar-driven backdrop that blends country elements with pop and hip-hop, Cahill details how he went from a city boy to a country man. Chuckfm‘s newest release, “Heaven and Hell,” is a deep exploration of life’s duality. The failures on one hand and the successes on the other. Over a soulful, piano-laden backdrop with soft melodic runs, the emcee explores the pressures that come with the never-ending cycle of life’s struggles.

 

 

“Animosity” is the latest release from METAPHYSICAL. The track finds the emcee detailing the root cause of hate, fuelled by racially driven prejudice passed down through generations. The production is ominous and dark, while the lyrics are thought-provoking and well-crafted. UK alternative rapper/songwriter Pressed Art enters this week’s playlist with “Honesty”. A reflective track exploring the human psyche during rough times. As the title suggests, it’s a frank and detailed breakdown of the journey through dark patches. Fair The God takes it “Back Home” with the help of Skyzoo and Anoyd. Over Cee & Ralph‘s soulful, nostalgic backdrop of sublime pads, keys and horns, and a punchy drum groove, the emcees show appreciation for their roots, stomping grounds and the many characters that made the journey worth it. Canadian singer-songwriter Nulo‘s new single “Cycles” explores the revolving door that is life. Over a guitar-driven backdrop comprising warm textures and a smooth groove, the singer reflects on how time moves, events change, and emotions grow in a repeated fashion. Legendary Julez rides through town while the haters sit on the bleachers in his new single “Switch Lanes.” Over a mellow, moody backdrop, the emcee flexes on the opposition as he focuses on his business, weaving through the white noise like a Gulfstream. Canadian rapper/songwriter Common Tongue caught our ears with  “Never Hold My Tongue,” a reflective piece lifted from their debut EP Bury It Sober. The track is a tribute to memories and the power of self-reliance and belief. Louis Davis, Jr. ramps up the energy levels with a “COURAGEOUS MINDSET” featuring Savage Watson. Over a soulful horn-driven backdorp with puncy drums, the emcees deliver the perfect aspirational anthem for everyone to tap into. Forged by inner struggles and systemic hurdles, the duo highlight the power of perseverance and human resilience wth insightful and heartfelt lyrics that everyone can relate to. UK rapper/songwriter Marino dreams unveils “BETTER DAYS” as he weaves through the never-ending grind. Backed by a dark, moody, contemporary pop/rock-infused backdrop featuring rich guitar licks, distorted synth, and basslines, the rapper explores the mental stress of being in the doldrums yet still holding on to a sliver of hope. German producer Will B. Heard teams up with NY-based rapper Derek Cedar for  “My Crates.” The nostalgia-inducing track is reminiscent of early Gangstarr records with smooth, jazzy samples and bouncy boombap drums.
