“Juniper” is a 90s-tinged soul/jazz track from the band The Mighty Pines. Led by vocalist Neil Salsich, who delivers an amazing soul-stirring performance ripe with emotionally punchy vocal runs. The musical arrangement is top-notch, too and boasts forward-thinking chord arrangement with soft pads, dynamic rhythm sections with heavy horns to complete the job. Pablo 978 returns with this unprecedented track, “Chatter,” which brings back the grimy street sound he has been providing us in the last few weeks. The rapper leads us deep into the dark crevices of his mind over an ominous backdrop featuring sublime vocal samples and a haunting guitar lick, and a crunchy drum groove. Rising rap artist Sha’Ki has done the math and is ready to” ADD IT UP.” Backed by the energetic backdrop of Addis, the rapper issues a call to action to get everyone up and about. With an expressive and aggressive flow, vivid lyricism and a horn-driven anthemic backdrop, you really don’t have a reason not to obey the call. Philly emcee Breadman MGV raises the ante with “Keep On Runnin’ (Sports Mix),” an anthemic track made for the go-getters and gym enthusiasts. Backed by the fast-paced backdrop provided by producer Vax Morpheus, the emcee leads the charge with fiery rap verses and a mantra-like hook that will get people moving. Emerging rapper P1NOY gives listeners an open view into his life in his new single “Semicolon Freestyle.” The lyrics tackle personal struggles and the mental pressures that mount during dark times. Mplied returns with “La Pelea Dos,” which is the sequel to his previous song of the same title. The track explores the life of a fledgling artist who has to deal with personal demons, imposter syndrome and the hope of success that might be looming near. The1FS taps into the spirit of “Vanilla Ice” in this conceptual track about relevance, the loss of innocence, and the mounting pressures of real life. Over a mid-tempo soulful backdrop comprising muffled vocal chops with lush pads, the emcee repurposes some lyrics from Vanilla Ice’s biggest hit to send an insightful message to listeners. Ro-Thoro and Sean Wrekless team up on the never-ending journey of finding the fabled “Pot of Gold.” Over a sublime vocal sample and lush textures, the emcee shows perseverance and resilience as he faces bumps along the way. Multi-talented singer/music producer/songwriter Pomona Romano enters our playlist with “Closer,” a trip-hop/contemporary soul piece that explores human connection. Over the head nodding grooves, rich electric guitar licks and dark textures, the singer takes us through the mental-tasking process of building an unbreakable bond with that special someone. D.O.U.G.’s new release “SHRIMP FRIED RICE” is a reflective piece about support, growth and appreciation for those who supported him. Over a soulful and reflective backdrop, the emcees share their thoughts on life with a portion of Shrimp Fried Rice.
Jon Moniz tightens up his manoeuvres as he motions us to”Talk about it.” Over a mid-tempo bouncy backdrop with lush textures and contemporary sounds, the emcee delivers an expressive rap performance with a somewhat catchy hook. Souleye drops his lead single “Roots” featuring Zach Blew. The track is an insightful piece that blends experimental soul with hip-hop and finds the artists reflecting on life. From breaking generational curses, pushing through systemic and personal failures, to finding solace in the struggle. This is the lead single from Souleye’s 14th Studio Album titled Coloring The Cosmos. Tulsa, Oklahoma-raised emcee BOAZZZ9 moves through the cold world with “Clarity.” The track has a cinematic feel and finds the emcee detailing his experience with fairweather friends, dealing uncontrolled substances, and family drama. “Daydreams” is a bouncy track from DatKid Smoove and Jake Nealey, and it’s a slight departure from his previous releases. Armed with a laidback flow with engaging songwriting skills, the emcees reflect on past relationships and the power of moving on and focusing on securing the bag. Australian rapper/songwriter Maxie pours his thoughts on wax in their new release “LET ME BE HONEST.” Over a guitar-driven backdrop, the singer shares the bitter truth about life and how taking steps pushes one closer to the goals and why one should not always assume.
London, UK-based rapper Rob Mapache and Baby Sol team up for “The Quiet Room.” The track is a modern jazz/hip-hop infused piece that is story-driven with Mapache at the helm. Armed with his laidback and commanding flow, he takes us on a thrilling journey through loneliness, fear and accountability. Emerging rapper Jay Hallic‘s new release, “Sometimes,” is a reflective and thoughtful track about self-belief in an unforgiving world. Over a piano-driven backdorp with punchy drums, the emcee reminds us to always keep our heads up regardless of the situation. “Part I: CONFESSIONS” by AFEEGO is a modern trap/R&B infused track that explores lust, infidelity and the power of seduction. The rapper delivers a relatable tale with his stylish flow and vivid songwriting. “Part II: ATONEMENT” is the follow-up to AFEEGO’s “Part I: CONFESSIONS,” and continues the tale of living and dealing with consequences. The production is dark and ominous, evoking urgency, while AFEEGO’s storytelling drops listeners right in the mix of the action. Bonn-based rapper/songwriter Lepus enters our playlist with “Neues Kapitel,” a heartfelt piece combining classic boombap grooves with soul/jazz textures. The track finds the rapper reflecting on life, his experiences and the process of entering a new chapter. Up-and-coming Staten Island producer Jboogz teams up with rapper Jaydense for his new single “NEED YA LUV.” The track samples a classic soul song and flips it into a modern banger that finds the emcee standing on business and dropping the fairweather friends in the dirt where they belong.
