Ellisa Sun – “Somewhere Below”.

Nashville, Tennessee-based singer/songwriter Ellisa Sun unveils her new single “Somewhere Below,” a heartfelt tune that explores love and heartache. The production has a rich jazz-soul vibe and Sun’s sonorous vocal runs evoke raw emotions which rise to a plateau in the chorus section.

 

Dashius Clay – “Wu-Tang”

Multi-talented DC-based artist Dashius Clay pays homage to the 90s in the aptly titled single “Wu-Tang.” Over a nostalgia-inducing backdrop comprising atmospheric pads and ethereal textures, he takes us down memory lane with engaging lyrics and a distinct flow.

Edmonton-based hip-hop artist Lion Luciano delivers his new cut “For What its Worth” featuring Ben E Brix, and Shaw Langley. The posse cut sees the emcees bringing their respective expertise over the hard-hitting soundscape and the result is a seamless blend of bravado and social consciousness.

 

daste. – “Starwriter”

 

Australian trio Daste comprises musicians Callum, Braxton and Tyler who are working on their next album but in the interim share the lead single “Starwriter.” The cosmos-inspired single has a dreamy and atmospheric vibe underscored by rich enthralling melodic runs and heartfelt lyrics.

 

Billy Phono – “So On and So Forth” featuring Raph Stormwalker

 

Billy Phono teams up with Raph Stormwalker for the new single “So On and So Forth.” The track is an off-kilter alternative hip-hop piece that sees the artist diving into the topic of melancholy and sadness with a playful approach. The soundscape is scenic and trippy and the lucid rhyme schemes add an extra layer to the track.

 

 

Jules Frequency – “Time Gone Come”.

Jules Frequency enters our playlist with “Time Gone Come,” a reflective tune that talks about his daily growth as an artist who has put in the required ten thousand hours to perfect his craft. The beat is bouncy and has a trippy piano sample while his laidback flow sounds perfect over it.

AJE SMD teams up with Lynx the Indigo Child for “im the worst,” a reflective tune that digs deep into the never-ending struggle he faces. From self-doubt, dynamics of relationships and inner demons, he gives audiences a glimpse into his life.

 

deathbypeanuts x NanaBcool x Selassie x Dexter Francis Mason – “Nightrider”

 

Talented Germany-based multi-instrumentalist/producer deathbypeanuts recruits Eclectic Ghanaian/American R&B artist NanaBcool , and Selassie, and Dexter Francis Mason together for his new single “Nightrider.” The track comprises sublime and atmospheric production underpinned by rich airy melodic runs and heartfelt songwriting.

 

 

Mark Evich – “Rendez-Vous”

 

US-based Russian singer/songwriter/producer Mark Evich is working on a new EP but in the meantime, he shares the new single “Rendez-Vous.” The mellow guitar-driven tune is reminiscent of the early 2000s neo soul era with a modern twist. Evich’s vocals are sultry and the melodies are enthralling while the candid lyrics are well-crafted.

 

 

Sirius Blaxk – “TRXNCH BXBY”.

 

Sirius Blaxk crafts a tribute to the ghetto in the form of their new single “TRXNCH BXBY.” Over a cinematic punchy trap soundscape, they present their thoughts about how the world treats the downtrodden and voiceless. Coming from humble beginnings Sirius Blaxk sure knows a thing or two about making it from the mud and implores us to never let one’s past define our future. Joining the fray is fellow rapper and label mate NAR$ who adds a different perspective to the hard-hitting track.

The Word Painter’s Legion gives us a soul-stirring track entitled “Faith Fallen” on this week’s playlist. The track explores loss, self-doubt, faith and the never-ending search for redemption.

“Boom” is the hard-hitting motivational single from Jeristotle. The track has a cinematic vibe with its orchestral strings and heavy bassline and crunchy drums underpinned by aspirational lyrics. This is the perfect anthem for listeners putting in work in the gym and life.

 

 

Phat Kat – “French Connection”.

Detroit emcee Phat Kat is a hard-working man who keeps the flag high for his city. His latest single “French Connection” is a testament to his longevity in the game and the love and respect he is getting overseas. As the title suggests, it is anchored on his relationship in Europe, France especially and sees him working with French producer Astronote who laced him with a hard-hitting grimy beat to flow to. Phat Kat details how the track was made with vivid accuracy and adds more context to his journey and legacy. “French Connection” was recorded 13+ years ago and recently got remastered for an official release.

 

 

Big Soap – “Chemistry”

 

Big Soap‘s “Chemistry” is a thought-provoking and playful tale of the allure of street life.
