We are still dedicated to showcasing the best tracks/videos from the underground by searching far and wide in order to bring you our weekly list. It’s a tough job as we sift through a ton of high-quality tracks just to settle for just 5 so we switched it up so now we curating the Top 10 Submissions. Now that is what we call dedication, so sit back relax and get familiar with these acts.

Mike G – “Never Forget It”

Mike G starts the list with this solid piece titled “Never Forget It.” Over a lush, upbeat backdrop, he details a nostalgic love story from his own unique view.  The new song is taken from an upcoming project Mike G will be dropping at the end of the month called ‘SOLS‘ which contains a collection of songs all that is not your same old love song.

 

 Prime Sinister – Castrate [Prod. Baileys Brown].

 

Prime Sinister kicks off this list with another banger titled “Castrate” that once again showcases the rising emcee’s dense lyricism and a knack for off-kilter soundscapes to drive home his message. He is backed by a broody, cinematic production courtesy of Baileys Brown. The song is taken from Prime Sinister’s upcoming third album.

 

 

 

 

VLADA – “Should Have Known”

Swiss soul-singer VLADA has been on the scene for a while since he dropped his debut album All About You with some of his biggest heroes, such as ten-time Grammy Award-winning Take 6 as well as world-class musicians Abraham Laboriel, Paul Jackson Jr amongst others. fast forward to 2020, he then returns with this beautifully crafted piece titled “Should Have Known” that showcases his deep soul roots and exceptional songwriting. Backed by a lush, soul-gripping backdrop, VLADA details his challenges as a proud father of 2 boys and how the experiences have shaped him to be a better man.

CANTRELL – “Understand” | A COLORS SHOW

Mass Appeal signee Cantrell shares the Colors studios’ performance of his song “Understand,” a soulful piece that dwells on personal relationships and the need for patience.

Knimes x Baby Boa – “Kumbaya”

Producer Knimes teams up with lyricist Baby Boa for his new single “Kumbaya” that serves as his third release. The collaboration is pretty epic and off-kilter as Knimes crafts an anthemic piece that culminates in a rousing chorus while the verses have more of a sparse cinematic feel. Baby Boa tackles a handful of topics intertwined with his unpredictable flow.

Kumbaya is the third release of Knimes’s, yet to be released, self-titled debut EP. The collaboration with rapper Baby Boa resulted in this epic hip hop track with deep lyrics that couldn’t be more relevant in the times we live in. Get it on iTunes and Soundcloud.

 

 

Kenyadda – “D.A.B.S”

Chi-town emcee Kenyadda makes his debut on our list with this heartfelt track titled “D.A.B.S” where he tells a relatable tale involving women, heartbreaks and the blurred lines separating the two.

D.A.B.S.” is a single from the Kenyadda 2019 release Days After Homage. Previously appearing on a Kenyadda mixtape entitled “Homage”. It was written in 2012 and is produced by the late great producer J Dilla.

Masethemessiah – “Rain Fall”

Emerging emcee Masethemessiah puts all his troubles on wax in the form of his new single “Rain Fall.” Backed by a smooth, reflective backdrop he shares his experience with fake friends and all the drama that comes with that situation.
Masethemessiah’s music is pure food for the soul. Born in Sacramento, Mase moved to East Palo Alto as a child no older than 4. Growing up in East Palo Alto (EPA) “Basketball and choir became a way to escape reality” he quotes, “I was surrounded by drugs and brought up in an environment where I didn’t feel loved at home, which is cool…it shaped me to be who I am and I’m glad about it, I love my family for it…i had to find love on my own, lose it and find it again”. Leon Grey – “Ticket For Your Love”

UK singer/songwriter Leon Grey shows us his eclectic style on his single “Ticket For Your Love.” He blends soul elements with classic reggae vibes and even takes it up a notch with his earworm melodies and unique style that displays his roots and diverse heritage. On the song, he takes the listener to the time where love is pure and far from the materialistic/ surface infatuation. This is a welcome change from the fast-paced energies of modern life and relationships,

 

 

 

Halvcast – “Politician”

African-born London-based rapper/producer Halvcast shares his own take on finding one’s own path on his new single titled “Politician.” Over a broody but somewhat edgy production, he gives the listener a sneak peek into his life from being born in Africa, moving to the UK at a young age and the many different situations that come out of that.

His debut mixtape Munkination Vol.1 was released on Soundcloud on 14 February 2020 and took almost 4 years to create and is currently composing a Trap-Opera fusion soundtrack in collaboration with the Royal Opera House. Find out more on here.

 

 

 

Focus The Truth x Kyah Baby x TGIFLY – “GraveDiggaz”

Focus The Truth teams up with fellow lyricists Kyah Baby and TGIFLY for this awesome three the hard way cut titled “GraveDiggaz.” It’s nothing but pure bars from start to finish from these Queens borough representatives.

Andrew G – “Over & Over ”

“Over & Over” is the first official video from Andrew G‘s debut project ‘Swim.’ The track is a solemn piece produced by Nick Mira that explores Andrew G’s relationship with an unnamed lady and he fully puts his emotions on wax and holds nothing back. The video was shot by Shi Muzik and focuses on Andrew G and the lady as they enjoy some time together. Listen to Swim now on SoundCloud.

 

 

Touré – “Bluffin’ ”

Emerging singer/songwriter Touré takes a look at toxic relationships on his new release titled “Bluffin’ “. Backed by a lush, guitar-driven head nodding backdrop, he delivers a soulful performance while depicting an off and on the relationship between two individuals who are not capable of leaving each other. The lady threatens to leave him but the guy is confident enough that she won’t and so the cycle starts. Get it on Soundcloud and Applemusic.

 

 

Broughton – “Neptune”

Broughton shares a tribute piece in the form of his new single titled “Neptune.”  Over a smooth, sublime backdrop by LCS and Cashmere, Broughton takes time to rain appellations on a certain lady that caught his eye.

Phantom Phunk – “Day By Day”

Phantom Phunk closes the list with “Day by Day,” an offbeat energetic single that showcases the group’s knack for not following the norm. They explore different styles with energetic delivery and vocal punches that change up the dynamics of the track and then some. The concept of the track is about rolling with the punches. Sometimes things happen and the best way to cope is to know that things keep going. Whether it’s good or bad, the world keeps spinning without caring. When the pressure builds, all you can do is move through to the next moment, taking things as they come, Day by Day. Get their project on Spotify.
