It won’t be fair not to show love to the cats that work behind the boards. Cats whose soundscapes help push hip-hop to loft heights. So in the same vein, this weekly list sheds light on budding and even established producers who continue to push the envelope for the culture. So sit back relax and get familiar with these producers.

Andrew Applepie – Down.

We kick off this week’s list with an off-beat track titled “Down” from producer Andrew Applepie. The producer who refers to himself as a quirky bedroom artist shows us his multi-instrumental skills on this record which mixes layered sounds in a pop-driven setting alongside manipulated vocals. “Down” is taken from his upcoming album, California Kamala Falcon, which has all been self-produced by Applepie in his Berlin-based studio.

Atreesto – Ajna

Atreesto returns with a solid effort titled “Ajna”. The beat is bouncy and is layered with an atmospheric backdrop that would get the listener enthralled from start to finish. You can also stream it on Spotify

Funk Andrews – Popsicle.

Stuttgart based producer Funk Andrews drops “Popsicle”, influenced by the productions of Dirty Art Club and Wun Two he created a mellow, wavy track perfect for your lazy days on the beach. A very chilled effort if we do say so ourselves.

Young Citrus – Late Night

Young Citrus cooks up some lo-fi goodness on his newest effort tilted “Late Night”. It has a weird/cinematic stripped down vibe layered with chill chords, short vocal snippets and a solid guitar that comes in at certain points in the song. Follow him on Spotify

Okvsho – Traphouse jazz.

Swiss production duo Okvsho delivers a new solid one titled “Traphouse Jazz” and like the name suggests, is a nice blend of lofty jazz vibes and some hip-hop grooves.

Yung Pianist – Lupre

newcomer who goes by the name Yung Pianist debuts on the list with a super mellow piano-driven cut titled “Lupre”. It has a nice 20s swing to it and it’s very soothing, to say the least. Inspired by Thelonious Monk’s songs, the producer recreates an overall engaging piece of art here.

Birey – the end of summer

Murad Aghazada, known by his stage name Birey, is an Azerbaijanian electronic musician and guitarist from Turkey. His new beat titled “The End of summer” is a sombre, nostalgic production that sets the mood right for the end of the season. Pretty enthralling if you asked me.
