Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Morgana x Renee Stormz – “Salut”

Nottingham-based artist Morgana and Manchester emcee Renee Stormz team up for “Salut” which serves as her third single and first official video. The mellow neo-soul/R&B/afropop infused record produced by Nottingham-based producer Super Beat is a display of sensuality and love. Morgana delivers a heart-rending performance ripe with soothing melodic runs while Renee Stormz ads her own flavorful bars to complete the mission. The visual has a retro and cinematic feel and makes use of several motifs and performance shots of the artists in their element.

Yona Marie – “People Make Time (For What They Want)”

Emerging singer/songwriter/producer Yona Marie shares her new single “People Make Time (For What They Want)”. The track has a 90s R&B aesthetic and captures her commanding and sultry vocals in all their glory. As the title suggests, it’s about being true to whomever you’re dealing with and not wasting anyone’s time because life is too short. The song comes with a lyric visual as well.

Flau’jae – “I Can’t Break”

Singer/songwriter Flau’jae purs her heart out on “I Can’t Break”, a heartfelt love song that dives into a turbulent relationship. Over a piano-laden soundscape, the Savannah-born, Louisiana-based vocalist reflects on heartbreak and the emotional pain that comes after. She’s also a natural in front of the camera. In the “I Can’t Break” clip, Flau’jae takes plenty of punishment: she’s battered by circumstances and pushed to the edge by a relationship gone wrong. The burning car in her front yard and the sombre bedroom scene inside her house testify to a volcanic rupture — but she shows us signs of the good times, too, and lets us see the scope of what she’s lost.

PIFF (aka Pennywise Jr) – “Sativa” (Prod by F-Plus Beats)

PIFF (aka Pennywise Jr) makes his entry on our playlist with “Sativa”. The herb-inspired record sees him reflecting on the effects of the right herb as he takes time out to get away from the craziness of the world. Over the sparkling pianoriff-driven boom-bap backdrop provided by F-Plus Beats, the emcee runs through the many strains and flavours that he has tasted.

This leak is the title track from his forthcoming EP that is entirely produced by Brazil’s own F-Plus Beats. To drop digitally on 8/29 The EP is planned as the first of a three-part musical series, with the second drop not far behind.

Scoreboy – “Big Dog”

Heritage Australian/ Samoan, From a Melbourne Pakenham Australia, Scoreboy helped close out this week’s list with his visuals for “Big Dog”. The midtempo bravado track sees him in his element as he states his claim and reveals some of the struggle she had to face and reminding us that he can’t be stopped. The song is his first official release and he is planning on dropping more music as time goes by.
