Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we look at some exceptional visuals from various acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

John D. Contradiction – “MDC” (feat. Wes Nihil)

John D. Contradiction‘s new single “MDC” is a collaboration with Wes Nihil and sees both emcees tackling the delicate issue of social-political turmoil and urban decay in this modern era. Backed by a jazzy soundscape, the emcees waste no time expressing their thoughts on the situation using thought-provoking lines that dig deep into the rising tension, negativity and never-ending struggle that keeps the masses in a loop. The visual shot in the middle of the iconic Tompkins Square Park—an essential hub for punk culture brings the pair together as they pay homage to their roots and pass the eternal message to the next generation.

 

Jay Gudda – “Grey Magic”

Jay Gudda goes into deep poetic mode with his new single “Grey Magic.” The reflective and bravado-driven track is inspired by Manly Hall‘s book, Magic: A Treatise on Natural Occultism. The visuals are quite captivating as well and employ motifs of self-reflection and eye-popping effects.

 

 

JBEE – “Deja Vu”

 

North London-based MOBO Award-nominated rap rising star JBEE returns with the visuals for his single “Deja Vu.” The track sees him reflecting on his journey as a young man in the bustling city while using music as a way out. Armed with his expressive flow and knack for vivid lyricism, JBEE flows effortlessly over the soulful-drill soundscape. The visuals employ engaging visual tricks and performance shots that capture his refreshing style.

 

 

 

Dead Ott – “Washed Out”.

UK rapper Dead Ott drops off the visual for his new single “Washed Out.” The track has a laidback and solemn vibe and sees Dead Ott reflecting on his life as an indie artist, the dynamics of fatherhood and the concept of being called washed up but he is far from hanging up the microphone. The self-directed/shot video focuses on Dead Ott’s life ranging from music making, building a family of his own and coming to terms with the things that make him unique.

“Washed Out” is the first single from his fourth album Hello Again.

 

 

 

JADA – “Better With You”.

Rising East London singer/songwriter JADA unveils the visuals for her new single “Better With You.” The sultry tune sees her reminiscing on that special someone who gives her feelings of euphoria. Backed by a smooth and bouncy soundscape, JADA pours her heart on wax as she confesses that she is better with that special person. The visuals directed by Ray Fiasco follows JADA as she dresses up for an occasion wth her girlfriends across the beautiful city of London. The track was co-written with her close friend and collaborator JVCK James.

 

 

2ŁØT – “Never Knew You””.

Genre-blending band 2ŁØT shows us a thrilling live performance of their song “Never Knew You.” The track is a reflective piece that centers around the fluidity of human interaction and connection. The band comprises of Rudy Love Jr. (vocals / keys), Omar Jawar (drums), Sage Judd (keys), Chase Koch (guitar), and Robert Trusko (bass). The single is taken from their debut album, Entropy.

 

Blaze YL – “Meaningful Captions”

 

South London lyricist Blaze YL showcase his verbal prowess with “Meaningful Captions,” a punchy track ripe with bravado and expressive flows. The visuals blend performance shots of Blaze YL and his crew in different spots.

 

 

 

 

YADRO – “GUILT”.

 

Multi-faceted rapper/songwriter YADRO enters our playlist with “GUILT.” The dark track has a moody vibe and is punctuated by a sublime melodic flow and heartfelt songwriting that dives into mental health and the effects of guilt-ridden thoughts. The track is lifted from his new EP Darksides.

 

 

2wiin Kingz – “In These Dark Times” featuring DaveOsBeatz

 

2wiin Kingz returns with “In These Dark Times” produced by their longtime producer DaveOsBeatz. The hard-hitting tune displays lyrical prowess from both rappers who deliver fiery bars over the dark scenic backdrop laid before them. The visual is quite engaging and uses a blend of dark motifs, and performance shots with off-kilter angle shots.
