The music video format has been around for decades, from the 90s and 2000s, and has shifted from multi-million-dollar budget music videos to mid- to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Murphz & Dead Ott – “Proteus”.

 

UK emcee/producer duo Murphz & Dead Ott recently put out their collaborative project Murphz VS Dead, and now they follow up with the visuals for the single  “Proteus”. The track is a showcase of raw lyricism over hard-hitting backdrops, and the visuals are straight-up scenic with performance shots of the rapper in different spots in the city. For those who don’t know, Murphz is a veteran behind the scenes, from co-running the online platform UKHH.com and his own Brain Scran label.

 

Errol Eats Everything – “Automatic Traumatic”

Errol Eats Everything presents the visuals for”Automatic Traumatic,” an insightful and unapologetic look at the state of affairs in the US. From police brutality, systematic racism, to ICE agents running amok and harming peaceful citizens, Errol Eats Everything channels the frustrations of the masses on wax with a call to action for justice to be served by any means necessary.

 

 

VENMC – “An Economics Lesson”

VENMC continues to enlighten minds with his music, with the latest being “An Economics Lesson”. The track parallels economic choices with violence and the invisible connection with the powers that be. With corporations dipping teir hands in the very ecosystem we live in, it’s extremely difficult not be complicit, but the lesson here is to be aware and move carefully.

 

 

SHUB x Dj Paul x Nova RX – “Legacy” (Feat. DJ Paul & Nova RX)

Indigenous electronic pioneer Shub connects with DJ Paul and Nova RX for “Legacy.” The genre-bending track pays homage to his indigenous roots, the modern southern hip-hop bounce and experimental electronic music. DJ Paul then comes in with his commanding flow and vivid lyrics that explore the concept of legacy. Nova RX then taps in with a smooth melodic chorus. The visual style highlights interpretive dance merged with various modern styles.
