Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

Eugenius – “Legend Has It (Demo)”.

Emerging rapper/songwriter Eugenius enters our playlist with the visuals for his song “Legend Has It (Demo).” The track was originally recorded in 2018 for a shelved album but instead of leaving it on the cutting room floor, Eugenius repurposes it to showcase his older work to newer audiences. The track is bolstered by a soulful and somewhat brooding piano loop and sublime vocal samples underpinned by reflective lyrics.

BAM! (a.k.a. Afrika Baby Bam) – “Break Our Bond”

It’s always great to hear from the legends who are still rocking it. With that said, the legendary BAM! (a.k.a. Afrika Baby Bam) of Jungle Brothers/ Native Tongues fame is back with  “Break Our Bond.” The anthemic rock empowerment anthem was conceived during the height of the lockdown in 2020 and after fine-tuning it with the help of acclaimed production company Camp Rattler, he was able to flesh it out and present it in its current form. The song also comes with an off-kilter and somewhat psychedelic visual that showcases live performances of BAM! with his rock band with clips from an abandoned town near Wilkes-Barre, PA.

 

 

JUMA MUSIC x JPRiZM – “Never Enough”

Boston rapper  JUMA MUSIC and producer JPRiZM share the visuals for “Never Enough,” an upbeat tune that centers around the dynamics of relationships and the effects of social media. Over the bouncy and bright soundscape, JUMA MUSIC shares a relatable tale of how people often get too infatuated with social media attention as opposed to facing their relationship head-on. The visual is a playful take on tensions that arise in a relationship when one party is fixated on external validation.

 

 

 

Trizz x MIKE SUMMERS – “Fighting Temptations” (feat. M I L A)

Trizz and MIKE SUMMERS return with the visuals for “Fighting Temptations” featuring M I L A. The reflective song sees Trizz digging deep into his flaws and the ups and downs of balancing relationships and his ego. The visuals has a moody and sombre vibe that taps into the theme of the song and follows Trizz going through the wringer with his lady. “Fighting Temptations” music video is taken from Trizz & MIKE SUMMERS’ new album entitled Cavi En Cursive.

 

Luvall – Satellite (feat. CREG and Dave B.)

 

Luvall and Dave B. deliver this heartfelt tune “Satellite” to our earshot. Over a warm and sublime soundscape, the artist pour their heart on wax as they delve into the concept of breaking free from toxic relationships that restrict one’s true potential. The accompanying visual employs different clips and animations from different sources with engaging motifs that personify the heartfelt lyrics.

 

 

Dylan Owen – “Romantic Language”.

 

Emerging rapper Dylan Owen enters our playlist with “Romantic Language,” a heartfelt ode to hip-hop and his love for the culture. Over the soulful soundscape, Dylan gets passionate about his art and makes it known that he is cut from the same cloth as his predecessors who paved the way. The visual is a performance-based affair and captures Dylan’s energetic flow. “Romantic Language is the final single of his new DO BEFORE YOU DIE MIXTAPE.

 

 

 

G-Squared – “Most Real” (Everybody Raps Remix) [feat. Mic Geronimo & Royal Flush]”

 

DJ/Producer G-Squared teams up with veteran Queens emcee Mic Geronimo and Royal Flush for “Most Real” (Everybody Raps Remix).” The lyric-dense track is a masterclass of lyricism as we get a heavy dose of that classic NY hip-hop vibe from the duo who seamlessly trade bars. The song also comes with slick animated visuals by Amina Mara who makes the emcee’s rhymes hop off the page.

 

 

G.L.A.M. – “LESSGO” (feat. Black Caviar)

 

Rising rapper/producer/DJ G.L.A.M. shares visuals for “LESSGO,”  a bouncy stylish jam that sees her teaming with acclaimed DJ producers  Black Caviar. Over a smooth bass-laden bouncy soundscape, G.L.A.M delivers a solid, ear-grabbing performance ripe with vivid and enthralling lyricism with a catchy hook to close the deal.  The visuals are engaging as well and employ lots of performance shots, smooth angles and seamless transitions.

 

Peki Momés – “Göç Mevsimi”

 

Turkish artist Peki Momés enters our playlist with “Göç Mevsimi,” a smooth retro-pop tune that has elements of funk and Jap-pop. The track’s visuals use a throwback anime video that adds to the mysticism and uniqueness of the song.

 

 

FAVE – “No Games”

 

Nigerian singer-songwriter FAVE’s new single “No Games” comes with a lyric visual treatment. The mid-tempo sultry afropop/R&B infused tune produced by Chef Bxrry plus additional production Niphkeys showcases FAVE’s rich vocal tone and range and knack for penning soul-stirring tunes that explore the divine blessing of femininity and strength of womanhood.

 

 

ROLL MEGA – “U SHAKE ME”.

Roll Mega is the newest soul group spearheaded by Son Little aka Aaron Livingston, and Eric Krasno.  Their latest release “U Shake Me” is a bold retro-tinged soul-funk-pop track that bridges the old with the new and showcases the group’s unbridled versatility. The visuals capture both artists performing in front of an old gas station reminiscent of the old movies.

 

 

 

2ŁØT – “Call For Me””.

Genre-defying band 2ŁØT makes their entry in our video playlist with their latest tune “Call For Me.” The mid-tempo afro-infused pop/R&B gem is a powerful anthem that centers around true love, connection and the importance of healing and social change. The vocal runs are rich and alluring and the lyrics are poignant and much needed in these trying times. The visuals follow the journey of a woman struggling with the aftermath of a relationship and battling substance abuse, ultimately showcasing the healing power of music and human connection.

2ŁØT is a diverse five-piece group composed of Rudy Love Jr, Omar Jawar II, Sage Judd, Chase Koch, and Robert Trusko.

 

 

IamReconcile – “No Competition”

 

Rising rapper IamReconcile closes out this week’s video playlist on a high note with the triumphant “No Competition.” The horn-laden track is a testament to IamReconcile’s indomitable spirit as a man who is ready to go the extra mile for his gaols.
