CAPTURE THA MOMENT is a 12-track project from emerging rapper/songwriter  CAP THA WISEGUY who aims to bring that good old hiphop with refreshing modern aesthetics laced with engaging rhyming.

The first track “SUCH POTENTIAL” take audiences right into the action with its punchy bass-laden soundscape and fiery raps from CAP THA WISEGUY. Lines like“My flow fresher like Will Smith, you can bank on my realness/Throw that out like jazz, word to my uncle you feel it/When I serve up this beats like Geoffrey, come test me/You come up short just like Carlton eventually/You dumber than Hilary, thinking that I can’t live/Sick of watching these bitches change up like Aunt Viv, halfway through” pop out as she showcases his knack for wordplay and pop references. Next is the cinematic “BARZ,” an aptly titled track featuring fellow rapper KILO VISION which sees both rappers trading hard-hitting bars. “PULLIN’ ME BACK” is a reflective tune that serves as a tribute to his first love, music. CAP doesn’t shy away from letting audiences know his passion and love for music on this tune. Next is the sombre “REFLECTION” comprising solemn keys laced over punchy trap grooves. Here CAP talks about his child and how their birth changed his life forever. Lines like “It feel so crazy, just staring at my child, my child, my child,  saying that still feels wild/Never could express to you how much you made me smile/Before you came along, I was in such denial/” help encapsulate his feelings of being a first-time father and the joys that come with it.

“CAN’T LET IT CHANGE ME” is an aspirational tune that explores the concept of seizing the day and living life with optimism as opposed to regret, while “IF I DON’T” is the perfect accountability anthem. Over the triumphant horns and rumbling drums, CAP reflects on his life as an artist and young man making ends meet while facing several obstacles along the way. This is followed by a funny skit “WHO’S JUDGIN? (SKIT)” that sees two show hosts making jest of CAP’s name. This leads into the game show-inspired “ANALYZE THIS” where CAP leads the charge with bars like “Parachuting down, I’m nice when I be dropping in/Like a swish, how could I miss/I’m MJ with closed eyes, shooting these free throws, bitch /Guess that makes you invisible/Turn on the flames, put my foot down in this game, yes I am pivotal” and gets his verses analyzed by the aforementioned game show hosts.

CAP doesn’t hold back throughout the project and on tracks like “VICTORY PARADE”  and the posse cut “WANTING THINGS” which sees him teaming with rappers Mental Epademik, and MESSY THE MAN, audiences are given a more edgy display of lyricism.  The former sees CAP in his element flexing his verbal biceps, while the latter dives into self-purpose, soul-searching themes. The project closes out with “FROM THA HEART” and “CAPTURE THA MOMENT,” two tracks that showcase CAP’s versatility. “FROM THA HEART” lives up to its title and sees CAP reminding us of his love for the game with lines like “It’s crazy looking back, I came so far so ama do me, oh we speaking from the heart.” “CAPTURE THA MOMENT” starts with a soulful vocal sample and sombre guitar licks that help set the solemn tone. Here, CAP implores us to live and capture every moment as much as we can because we are made to live up to our potential and not go to the grave with regrets.

CAPTURE THA MOMENT is quite an engaging body of work made by someone who loves the game and pays respect to the foundation laid by his predecessors.
