UK Producer Mecca:83 dropped this preview bomb on us, a full fledged album to be released on the 5th of December, the promo will be out next week though…a few of the tracks can be found on previous posts made right here on WIB. But overall is fresh new work produced and mixed by Mecca:83…sounds are mad original and trippy, perfect for zoning out and unwinding.

Following the success of Life Sketches Vol.1, manchester based producer Mecca:83 returns with a full album of deep instrumental Hip Hop. Spanning 15 tracks, the record exhibits a wide range of styles, filling the gaps between classic Hip Hop production and forward thinking electronic beats.

Featured guests on the album include Grand Ear, Knwldg Highs, Spinnerty, Replife, Emanative and Buscrates 16-Bit Ensemble.

About Mecca:83:

Mecca:83 (Evan Jones) is a music producer from Manchester, UK. Although grounded in Hip Hop, his music draws inspiration from a variety of genres including Soul, Jazz, Electronica and Dub.

He first appeared producing tracks on acclaimed albums by the likes of Deborah Jordan and Replife, gaining radio exposure and approval from the likes of Gilles Peterson (BBC) and Simon Harrison (Basic Soul) in the process.

In 2011 he released his debut album Messages (under the alias Rise) on the london based Futuristica Music imprint. Deeply inspired by late 60’s and early 70’s spiritual jazz, the album was highly praised: recieving worldwide airplay and excellent reviews in a number of publication.

The first Mecca:83 EP “Life Sketches” was released in June 2011: the first in a series of projects filling in the gaps between straight boom-bap and electronic beats. Released independently by Mecca himself the EP was an instant success, recieving over 5,000 downloads in the first 3 months and creating a substantial buzz around the internet.

Forthcoming releases in 2012 include Rise’s “Worldwide Psych Trip” and the Alexis Davis group project alongside Replife, Spinnerty & Dj Simon S.
