Emerging singer/songwriter Taylor Williams brings his unique take on modern ballads with his cover of Mac DeMarco’s “For The First Time.” Blending the original’s indie rock element with new age soul and R&B stylings, Taylor Williams crafts a soulful piece that explores the power of love at first sight. Armed with his mellow and sultry melodic runs, Williams gives audiences a close captioning of blossoming love and the emotional buildup that comes with it.
“For The First Time” serves as one of the double singles from Taylor Williams, the second being the B-side, “What About Me?” which finds Williams recreating The Exceptional Three, with the aid of producer Leroi Conroy.
Taylor Williams is a former member of North Carolina collective Black Haus a garage-funk alt-rap two-vocalist quintet from North Carolina. Williams carries the band’s adventurous spirit with him while reaching back into a soul catalogue that speaks to his current path. “I wanted to put something out into the world that has that 70s feel…beautiful harmonies like Minnie Riperton, Isaac Hayes, and Marvin [Gaye],” says Williams.
