The extremely successful headphones company headed by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine — of which HTC bought a $300 million majority stake in last year — is looking to expand again. The online music service, MOG, and Beats are in negotiations. If the deal happens, you could see HTC Phones with a Beats-optimized music service.

However, both parties aren’t speaking but three people who were briefed of the deal (but not allowed to speak publicly) said negotiations are in the final stages, according to the New York Times.

Apparently, MOG can stream music a very high rate and has deals with record companies and publishers. However, MOG’s competitors, iTunes, Spotify, Rhapsody, amongst others have similar deals.

Side note: I have a pair of Beats ear buds and I like them but my roommate has a pair of Skull Candy ear buds and they bump way harder. I can’t speak to the actual $500 headphones, though.
