In a culture that values celebrity over substance, ego over heart, and ambiance over truth, Myrlin shares with the world a portraiture that aims to dispel the perceived glamour of celebrity in his music video Dave Chappelle.

A conscious material standing for resistance, Myrlin uses the persona of the famous comedian Dave Chappelle to musically express a moving counter-cultural critique on the American society, megalomania, and a public that often aims to elevate artists while simultaneously calling for, craving, and encouraging their eventual downfalls. Myrlin appeals to the audience’s collective conscience with commentary on the well-known narrative of comedian, Dave Chappelle’s rise to fame, and his surprising choice to walk away from his career at its peak success. There is the heavy allusion to artists who have had difficult times in the industry and have come full circle with the many curveballs thrown at them.

Dave Chappelle is the first single released from Myrlin’s sophomore mixtape, Eulogy In Blue and the direction of the tape is already set with the title and the first cut as well. Myrlin needs to ensure we don’t miss out on the goodness he has coming. Check out the video and enjoy the theatrics used to relay the heavy message.
