Vancouver, Canada-born singer/songwriter Liv Averie found her voice in music at a young age and started composing her songs in her teens. Slowly developing herself, she got an opportunity to travel to Russia as a background singer, this experience gave her the impetus to chase her dreams as a full-fledged singer. Now based in Atlanta, Liv continues showcasing her music with engaging and intimate live shows and now drops her latest project titled Ethereal EP. The 3 track body of work is threaded along human vulnerability, fragility, self-discovery and introspection. As the title suggests, audiences are led through a sea of emotions punctuated with heartfelt songwriting and soul-gripping melodic runs laced over cinematic soundscapes.

“Love Is Kind” is the first song and sets the tone with its eternal message and ethereal backdrop comprised of rich piano riffs, atmospheric pads and sparse grooves. Here, Liv details the mechanics of what true love should embody with lines like “We never spoke about love and the meaning/Maybe it’s something deeper than a reason”. Liv explores the concept from an abstract viewpoint, expressing the view that “Love is supposed to be- kind” while maintaining that certain things should be known and should not be told. This is followed by the reflective “Empath”, a warm love ballad which is introduced by a sparkling piano riff and soft drum grooves. Here, Liv takes us through her emotional and spiritual journey from the views of a child to her modern-day self. From attaining self-awareness and coming to terms with the way the world works and humans interact, Liv gives audiences a panoramic view of love and life from an empathic position.

The final track “Intrapersonal” is anchored on the premise of balancing one’s strengths and weaknesses against external forces. The production is in the same vein of modern-day soul/jazz-infused soundscapes with an experimental touch to it. Here, Liv looks within to find her true North with lines like  Been holding it too long/its been growing like a cancer/ so come on, come on” and sums it up on the motivational chorus urging womenfolk to own their strengths and walk with their heads up high.

Overall, Ethereal, is highly cohesive and seamlessly arranged. Each track is perfectly crafted to fit the topic and Liv’s distinct vocal runs shines through on every song.
