Melbourne-based veteran producer Kut One returns to the forefront with his newest single “Mount Up” which sees him linking up with Detroit’s legendary emcee Guilty Simpson. The result is a menacing hard-hitting jam that is made up of Kut One’s signature stomping drums and dark electrifying samples that draw listeners deep into the verbal abyss. The title is a subtle homage to Warren G‘s classic single “Regulate” and Guilty Simpson does justice with it as his laidback and gruff vocals take precedence. Lines like “Accountability is key, especially when you’re dealing with me/ Grown men in 3-1-3, getting situated for the showdown I won’t slow down/We blow loud in a remote town and go out/See what your city has to offer/Guilty- yeah I really did it for the culture” accentuate his OG status and he completes the job on the chorus with a call back to “Regulate”.

“Mount Up” is a single from the third installment in Kut One’s acclaimed Live Wires series, and it may just be the best one yet. On each one of this album’s 10 tracks, Kut One proves that he’s not only one of the genre’s best turntablist/producers—he’s also an incredible curator. The project boasts guest appearances by Estee Nack, Daniel Son, King Magnetic, Craig G, Rasheed Chappell, Jamal Gasol, and more. The album is available now for pre-order via BandcampiTunes and Amazon, and is officially set to drop next Friday, August 11th release date via DSPs and CD through Chopping Block Records.
