Hawthorne, California -based Multi-faceted rapper/songwriter/visual artist Darian Smith Jr continues his #DSMITHSATURDAYS II music series with the release of two more additions to the series.
The first cut “ZEAL” is the fourth addition and sees him kicking insightful and retrospective bars over a laidback soulful soundscape. He opens up with a mission statement detailing his thought process and how he gets through the times with perseverance. He reminds us that he is all about peace of mind but in the same vein, throws a caveat with lines like “I never look for problems but it will never be a problem just to serve your ass this issue“.
The visuals have a DIY aesthetic and capture Darian in his element as he pours out his thoughts on wax.

Next up is “THE BLACC RABBIT” which serves as the fifth release in the music series and continues Darian’s introspective and reflective themes and we get to hear him displaying his spoken word prowess at the start before the song starts. Over a punchy and menacing soundscape, he takes us through his journey as a young black man in the jungle concrete. Armed with his confident flow and smooth lyrical schemes Darian takes charge reminding us that he is ready to go the extra mile and lines like”Just to test the enemies weakness I cross borders/Read between the fine-point line, bitch I serve ya/Step into the set with respect and it’s vice versa” sets it up perfectly.
The visuals make use of grainy and gritty effects and a lot of cut scenes and performance shots of Darian in different spots.
