Philadelphia-born rapper Freeway has signed with Babygrande Records with plans drop his next album “Diamond in the Ruff” on November 13th. This will be Freeway’s first studio album since releasing “Stimulus Package” back in 2010. “Diamond in the Ruff” is set to feature the lyrical talents of Wale, Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, Styles P and more. Production will come from Jake One, Bink! and Needlz, not a surprise since he’s worked extensively with each of them in the past.

Freeway joins Babygrande after a 2-year stint at Rhymesayers. Prior to that, he repped Roc-A-Fella Records from 2000-2009. Beanie Sigel is credited for discovering Freeway’s talents after seeing him freestyle at a Philly nightclub and hooking him up with a verse on “1-900-HUSTLER” featuring Beanie, Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek.

We should expect a lot from this album. For one, he’s been working on it for more than 2 years. Furthermore, Freeway has always been a consistent emcee and his work is almost always on point, most notably his 2003 debut album “Philadelphia Freeway” which quickly impressed and put him on the map.

Produced by Jake One, “Beautiful Music” is Freeway’s first single off the upcoming album. Even though it dropped back in 2010, it’s no doubt worth a listen. Jake One lays down a super tight piano beat while Freeway’s nonstop flow is on par. Dope enough that I find myself putting this track on repeat.
