Last year in October, Def Jam celebrated twenty-five years in the game. The original pinnacle of one of the best labels ever existed that defined & continues to redefine hiphop music and the culture. Thanks to Russell Simmons, Rick Rubin, and Lyor Cohen, they’ve built the ultimate empire that surpassed the many halls of time by bringing you a s__tload of artists since its inception. All of these experiences that happened during those times have been posted in a book, for you to purchase through Amazon (check LL Cool J excerpt).

Next month, Hedrush Music will be hosting a very special event with the honorary label, celebrating the release of the book in Washington, DC at the Lincoln Theatre. This event will feature a guest discussion with the early leaders of the label, and then some entertainment with some of Def Jam’s prominent artists.

On Saturday, June 16 2012, The Def Jam: 25 Years book release celebration will feature a guest discussion with book contributors Cey Adams (Def Jam’s founding Creative Director), Bill Adler (Def Jam’s founding Publicist) invited guests like Free, Sway (MTV), Michael Eric Dyson, Ed Lover, The Smithsonian Institute and our Def Jam Icon EPMD/Ghostface Killah*. Following the chat and book signing will be a concert featuring top area talent and a short set by our icon: EPMD.
