Saskatoon-based emcee Ev Thompson teams up with rap legend, Vancouver’s own Moka Only on “Ricky Chip$ with Young Je$$e”. The collaboration is produced by Moka Only who crafts a smooth soul-drenched LoFi backdrop for the duo to shine over with dense lyrics. Packed with humor and witty metaphors, the duo shows the listener how they ball on a budget without losing their heads. The track is playful and Ev also blesses it with a melodic hook to match.
Ev Thompson has accomplished a lot in a relatively short career thus far. His last three independently released projects all charted multiple times in the National Top 10 Hip-Hop Charts on Canadian College radio, he has toured internationally multiple times, has a an album produced by a Juno credited producer (Rel McCoy – Shad, Ghetto Concept), an album featuring production from a WCMA winning producer (Factor Chandelier – Def3 Wildlif3), and his May 2019 release ‘God Save The Crown’ contains beat production from Atlanta based producer Kato (formerly of Funk Volume Records). He has already began releasing singles and visuals from that project (see 3Peat song and video) and is scheduled to drop the entire LP in 2019.
