Ali.GOOD is an emcee from Detroit and he has just released his debut video for Clockers: A Short Film. You can easily tell where the idea for the film came from but the backstory is that this was inspired whilst watching Nas‘ park bench scene with Shorty in Belly. “The scene reminded me of my cousin who’s currently serving time, so I wrote and made a short film about it” says Ali.GOOD about his thought process. The film tells an all too familiar tale of the black male trying to escape poverty doing what he considers the fastest way out but is met by the boys in blue who more times than not have a one-track view and plan to “put down the animal”. Ali.GOOD wants you to connect the dots from video to lyrics down to dialogue. Check it out.
