Ma Dukes Ochestra created to perform J Dilla’s beats live..great initiative, first time I am hearing it, and I dig a lot…it seems that they going to be releasing a whole box set soon…will be on the look out to cop it…

In 2009, VTech and Mochilla put on a 3 part event series entitled “Timeless,” showcasing The Suite for Ma Dukes orchestra, Mulatu Astatke, and Arthur Verocai, and March 2010, they will be releasing a limited edition box set DVD of each event, w/ extra behind the scenes footage, poster, exclusive music, full liner notes, etc.  Although the Suite for Ma Dukes event maybe most relevant and of interest, w/ it’s features from Posdnuos (De La Soul), Dwele, Bilal, Talib Kweli, Common, Karriem Riggins, and many others, all 3 events help create a bridge between producer/arrangers of yesteryear to the modern day hip hop producer.
