Providence, RI artist WOLFMAN JECKYLL ends 2024 on a grand note with the release of his new project WOLF GANG. The 15 track project is a collection of tracks recorded over time and sees the emcee teaming up with an assortment of guest features from the underground hip-hop scene.

From the jump, WOLF GANG as a project doesn’t shy from its core message and theme which revolves around lyrical dexterity with compelling story telling. The beats are cinematic and dark as well and add that urgent and mysterious aesthetic to the entire project. from the opener “Caution,” where WOLFMAN JECKYLL brings us closer to his world with lines like “Half of me is the son of a savage beast/dungeon dragon, split tongue and jagged teeth/The other half is a lithium battery that pumps at a capacity of a drug factory” to the scenic “Our Turf”  featuring Sonny Jim, and  Robust the Rezinated where the lyricist detail the craziness that occurs in their stomping grounds. The previously released “Brass Knuckles” brings together Spit Gemz, and rapper/producer Bodybag Ben for a no-holds-barred verbal onslaught. Tracks like “Incredible” with DJ Save One on the Wheels of steel and “Fuck That” featuring  Robust the Rezinated continue in the same vein with an ominous soundscape underpinned by unfiltered rhyme schemes.

WOLFMAN JECKYLL knows how to pick the features and brings together veteran emcees to join him on this lyrical quest for domination. Pronounce, and Copywrite strike fear in the hearts of the opposition on the ominous “Killa Gorilla” while Vast Aire (of Cannibal Ox fame), Minez, and DJ Mek bring the house down in the aptly titled “House of ill repute.”  Next is the laidback and somewhat playful “Territory” featuring Lord Wicz who leads the charge with his melodic flow and expressive rhymes that center around securing one’s perimeters against foreign elements. On solo tracks like “Unmarked Grave” and “Foul Play” we get to witness WOLFMAN JECKYLL in his element. The former has a dark spine-chilling backdrop that adds urgency to WOLFMAN JECKYLL’s graphic imagery while the latter has a cinematic and sparse vibe to complement the trippy off-kilter bars. The Wolf Gang theme continues with “Switch Blades”  featuring Ryuu of Urban Shinobi’z of the Future and “Wolf Pack”  with longtime collaborators Robust the Rezinated, and Minez who prey on the opposition with verbal bars. “Madness” involves an interesting tale of the dark side with the help of rapper Studs Ramrod while “Window Pain” featuring Redd Rebel digs deep into urban decay and the hardship many go through in this unforgiving concrete jungle we live in. The final track   “Reign Forever” sees the return of Robust the Rezinated and Annunaki Cruz also joins the fray ,and together they bring the project to a close with resounding performances.

Overall WOLF GANG sticks to the script. From start to finish, audiences are provided cinematic and edgy soundscapes that range from dark boom-bap to somewhat experimental underground beats with top-notch off-kilter lyricism.
