It’s a tough job as we sift through a ton of high-quality tracks just to settle for just 5 so we switched it up so now we curating the Top 10 Submissions. $MASH, THA HOMIE – “GIIIRLS”

LA-based producer/rapper who goes by the moniker $MASH, THA HOMIE  kicks off this week’s Top 10 list with the video for his single “GIIIRLS”. Performed in the same concept as Jay-Z‘s “Girls, Girls, Girls “, $MASH breaks down the various types of women he has in his bag. he does this over a smooth bouncy beat laced with a catchy vocal sample on top. The video is pretty solid too and beautifully showcases the amazing women from different works of life.

Jefe Replay – “Stay Ugly”

Roxbury, MA. based emcee Jefe Replay makes it known that he is not messing around on his new effort “Stay Ugly”. Over a cinematic, nostalgic backdrop he shares his sentiments about his intense work ethic which he won’t break for anyone. The video showcases the Boston emcee holding down the fort with his compatriots in the hustle. “Boston made me never be stagnant; it made me never be complacent or happy where I am,” Replay admits.

Eddy Cane – “Never Forget”

Emcee Eddy Cane sets off the alarm on this thought-provoking joint titled “Never Forget”. Over a laid back, solemn backdrop, he makes a call to action for black folk in America. He details the rise of police brutality against his kind and how history repeats itself and encourages us all to ensure it doesn’t. Although he is a Rapper/ Singer, Eddy Cane plays an array of different instruments to include the Guitar and Trombone. Eddy Cane is currently working on new, original material.

Malunga – “A.M”

UK Singer/songwriter Malunga switches the mood on the playlist with a smooth, sultry jam titled “A.M”. Produced by Peter Hakola (Makola, DeLooze), and taken from her forthcoming EP, which is due for release in 2020, “A.M” is, in Malunga’s own words, about “getting to know somebody new but feeling like you’ve met them before. The song also captures the excitement and mystery around dating that we create versus the reality of the situation and who the person really is”.

 

 

J.Chambers – “2:18” Ft 2Nice.

J.Chambers shares the quintessential black British experience on his new song titled “2:18”. Over a reggae-infused beat, he puts his own life perspective on wax. He doesn’t shy from sharing the obstacles he had to face as a younng black Briton. The song also features a catchy summer hook provided by the late 2Nice which embodies the sentiment of the track perfectly

Grice – “The Clock”

“The Clock” is the new track by Columbia, South Carolina based rapper Grice who details the nitty-gritty of having a steady worth ethic. Over a laid back, cinematic beat courtesy of Midi Marc, he takes the listener through a short journey of hope and dreams.

 

 

Genra, Smartface -“Who Am I ”

Oakland CA, native Genra and Smartface got next on their collaborative track titled “Who Am I.” The jazz infused boom-bap track that shows how artists from different backgrounds and countries can connect via music. The track is produced by Swedish producer Smartface who crafts the perfect soulful track for both artists as they explore who they really are.

Daugaard – “Momento Mori” (feat. Riggz The Lord)

Daugaard teams up with Riggz The Lord on “Momento Mori” , a track that dwells on the concept of death and sees the emcees take time to reflect on death and how it affects them on personal levels. True heads will recognize the sample used here to great effect.

DAX – “KILLSHOT 2”

DAX keeps pushing the envelope with each release and on his new release “KILLSHOT 2″(produced @lexnourbeats), we see the rising emcee clearing out the demons clouding his thoughts. Over a cinematic backdrop, he goes for the jugular with passionate lyrics and aggressive performance. The Logan Meis directed video sees him conquering the 11 demons that I have encountered since garnering little success.
