Multi-talented producer The Novemberist delivers a double release for us in the form of “Me for Me” and “Last One of the Night.” Two cuts that further solidify his prowess behind the boards and knack for carving up soulful pieces
The first cut “Me for Me” has a lush guitar backdrop laced with a haunting vocal sample and slapping drums. There is also a weird breathing vocal effect behind it all which makes it sound like someone gasping for breathe through a ventilator. The guitars are quite alluring and have a summery vibe to it too. It’s short but works well as a nice backdrop if you are jogging or doing house chores.

The second joint “Last One of the Night” has a more reflective and solemn vibe. The lush keys play a major role and they help give the beat a very soulful touch. The arrangement is far from riffs or loops as the keys progress into a more drawn out form as the song moves along. The drums are snappy and more sparse on this one. It’s a cool joint that can either make you think about the past or make you sad, all depends on your mood.
