Assassin’s Creed is an eleven-track collaborative project between Goldsboro, NC-based artists T-Quail and Multifaceted rapper/producer/audio engineer T.E.E . The concept anchors on parallels and the different paths of two individuals with similar life struggles in the same city.

The title track helps set the tone with a solemn atmosphere that slowly opens up into a large-scale event. T-Quail takes the lead with his laid-back flow and expressive storytelling with a dash of bravado, followed by T.E.E’s unapologetic lyrical onslaught. Both artists complement one another with their undeniable chemistry and engaging lyrics. Lines like “They never should have let us on the same track and they never should have let us run that back to back/I remember when there wan’t many rappers now the boro packed/That ain’t no hater shit, that nigga luv that” underscore how far the rap scene in Goldsboro, NC has come. The next track, “Written In Stars,” is built on a classic soul sample flipped into a downtempo trap sound. Here, T.E.E and T-Quail exchange bars in tandem as they embody their spirit as go-getters and an inspiration for the next generation. “TNT” is a display of lyrical proficiency from both parties, who employ a mellow soul-boom-bap-infused track as their backdrop of choice. As the title suggests, it’s explosive but in a laidback way as listeners get a full glare of unadulterated verbal sparring and lyrical world-building from both rappers. Lines like “While getting the “doh” like Homer, these poems sicker than ‘rona/Only games here be at the stores on the corner/whether you are rapping or you shooting dice/Slinging dope or you hooping nice/You best be strapped if you’re going through the night” set a dark tone and gives insight to their thoughts.

The project bridges both rapper’s lives, and we, as listeners, get to see how they fared separately and the universal connection that threads them together. From their respective life struggles, pain points and experiences to childhood trauma and adulthood, the duo give us a well-rounded and detailed outlook on tracks like “True Intent,” “Topics of Discussion,” and “WOF.” The aptly titled “Uplift” sees both rappers showing appreciation for their close friends and families, while “Cope” talks about self-preservation and building mental fortitude against never-ending life problems.  “Endless (Real Rap),” is as melancholic as the grey skies and serves as a bittersweet piece that deals with internal struggles and having a winner’s mindset. Lines like “Speaking to OG’s on how to navigate the climate/No matter what the storm, don’t ever let it blind your eyelids/Many things go wrong, don’t ever let it stop you just like I did” aim to inspire listeners to always push on and never give up. The final track, “Outro,” is a playful track where T.E.E and T-Quail show their lyrical strengths with no-holds-barred rapping with a touch of devil-may-care bravado over a woozy vocal sample-driven backdrop.

Overall Assassin’s Creed, packs a lot in terms of lyrics with both  T.E.E and T-Quail equally sharing the burden of vocal duties. Both parties are more than proficient to stand alone as artists but together they are surely a force to be reckoned with.
