He is fully aware of the beat and its origins with the legendary A Tribe Called Quest’s track “8 Million Stories” off their classic album entitled Midnight Marauders. He doesn’t rely heavily on groundwork laid by the ATCQ inspired beat, instead he pays quick homage to them while still making the track his own. In that aspect, “Luxury” is a perfect example of paying respect to Hip Hop’s past and its elder statesmen while maintaining and creating your own sound.
