UK singer/songwriter/DJ/producer Ruby Francis delivers her first single, “Pages of Philosophy,” ahead of her forthcoming EP. Always fully hands-on with her music, the North London-based singer crafts a genre-beding backdrop that captures the vibe of 90s R&B/hiphop with a modern touch and recruits multi-instrumentalist Rashaan Brown to add a solid bassline to complete the job. On writing duties, Laura Roy joins the fray, and together, she and Ruby Francis pen the most heartfelt love ballad this side of the blog planets. The lyrics are hopeful and evoke raw vulnerability during the beginning stages of falling in love. Here, Ruby Francis details the warm, blissful feeling of being in the presence of that special someone and the euphoric aura that engulfs one’s soul and detaches it from the physical world. She mentions that it’s quite a magical experience, and having been in that state before, she definitely knows a thing or two that most might not.
Born to a Jamaican father and an Italian-British mother, Ruby had a musically rich upbringing. Her father, a bass player, performed in bands throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, and her music-loving mother played a pivotal role in shaping her musical journey. Starting young, Ruby took piano lessons at age 10, started writing songs by 11, and began learning production in her early teens. Ruby Francis released her debut album, Archives, in 2021.
