Nigerian rapper PsychoYP drops double singles “Midlife Crisis” and “WYDTM” as he kicks off his music campaign for 2022. He is in high spirits as the two tracks showcase different styles and genres and it’s a testament to what this rising rapper can do. The singles come less than a year after he dropped his fourth studio project Euphoria. Both singles are produced by long-time collaborator and burgeoning British producer Dylan Scott aka SCXTT (AJ Tracey, Tee Grizzley, Timbaland).

We start with the dreamy and ethereal soundscape of “Midlife Crisis” where PyschoYP shares the inner workings of maintaining a relationship with an older woman who is going through her midlife crisis. The rapper delivers a smooth melodic performance ripe with vivid lyrical imagery about the affair. On “WYDTM” he makes use of an upbeat UK garage soundscape as his canvas as he reflects on having his heart broken and the unique steps he is making to heal. Here, he is joined by fellow Apex Village artist Azanti who adds his own unique touch to the record.

Aptly described as the ‘Fresh Prince of Nigerian rap’, 23-year old culture icon PsychoYP is one of the pioneers and leaders of the new wave of rap and hip-hop music in Nigeria. Born in the country’s capital city Abuja, PsychoYP is a multi-faceted artist with a diverse and progressive sound that cuts across rap, trap, grime, drill, and R&B music. Recently crowned the best rapper in Africa by The NATIVE, and hailed as one of the 10 Nigerian artists to watch by Complex, PsychoYP already boasts one of the best rap discographies on the continent, and he is only just getting started.
